Throne and Liberty Abyssal Contract Tokens, explained
Abyssal Contract Tokens are one of Throne and Liberty's ever-present currencies and can always be seen at the top-right corner of your screen. A mere few hours into your playthrough, you're likely to have amassed a few thousand of them. However, the game never outright explains what they're used for, leading to some confusion for newcomers.
In this guide, we'll explain what Abyssal Contract Tokens are for in Throne and Liberty and how to get more of them.
What are Abyssal Contract Tokens used for in Throne and Liberty?
Abyssal Contract Tokens are used for getting more XP, Sollant, and loot from mobs in open-world dungeons in Throne and Liberty. There's no shop where you actually buy anything with these. Instead, these are spent automatically when you kill monsters in an open-world dungeon, and the bosses have a higher chance of dropping an item from their loot pool.
Generally, the Level 50 Open-world dungeon Shadowed Crypt is what players grind in the end-game to get the best gear. However, your Abyssal Contract Tokens cap out at 20,000. Therefore, it's occasionally useful to farm the lower-level early floors for Syleus' Abyss to spend your first few thousand of this currency.
Where should you farm mobs with Abyssal Contract Tokens?
In the end-game, Abyssal Contract Tokens in Throne and Liberty are mainly used to increase the odds of specific Rare or Epic gear that you're target-farming. To identify which dungeon you want to farm, you can look at the acquisition info of that specific item or look at the Monster Info section. For this, go to the map menu, click on the desired open-world dungeon floor on the left panel, and then check the right panel that opens up.
Note that this only works with open-world dungeons, and not the Dimensional Circle Co-op Dungeons.
How to get Abyssal Contract Tokens in Throne and Liberty
There are various ways to get Abyssal Contract Tokens in Throne and Liberty, but the main one is Resistance Contracts, which are accessible after Chapter 5 from various contract managers. Note that Ilira's Contracts from Starlight Observatory do not provide Abyssal Contract Tokens. Other ways include:
- Co-op Dungeons (can reward 500 Abyssal Contract Tokens)
- Battle Pass tier rewards
- Adventure Codex and Appendixes (these occasionally hand out Abyssal Contract Tokens as rewards)
