Throne and Liberty dungeons have a botting problem now

Bots have invaded yet another game and this time it’s Throne and Liberty and its matchmade co-op dungeon activities on the chopping block. The highly acclaimed MMORPG has had a successful launch but has recently encountered a few hiccups, with server issues and RMT being the primary offenses.

However, according to observations from the playerbase, the latest perpetrators might not even be entirely human or conscious of their disruptive effects.

Throne and Liberty’s bot menace just got more disruptive

Unfortunately, this isn’t the first time bots have been an issue in Throne and Liberty. Unlike normal players, they move about aimlessly in what is often a mechanical fashion. They can be spotted mindlessly killing enemies in a single spot, without rhyme or reason.

Matchmade activities, especially Dimensional Circle co-op dungeons have been on shaky grounds since the beginning, thanks to premade groups having a clear gear and coordination advantage over pick-up groups or PUGs.

The developer introduced Dimensional Token: Salvation as a potential reward for running random matchmade dungeons, to make matchmaking more lucrative and shake up the monotonous grind. This currency is crucial for crafting several best-in-slot gears for all classes. However, bots have begun to invade matchmaking activities and have been making everyone’s life miserable.

Matchmaking already has several issues that make the experience tedious. This includes players repeatedly dropping out of the queue should they not like the dungeon on the card. Mechanically complex dungeons such as Cursed Wasteland, Butcher’s Canyon, and Tyrant’s Isle are already difficult by default. Having to wait for minutes only to matchmake with a couple of bots is an extra hassle when you're trying to exhaust your daily activities.

Having one of these bots in your party is painful enough. Getting more than one will ensure that you never complete the encounter. With bots starting to infiltrate the matchmade dungeons, players have naturally started to notice the bad actors among them. In open-world activities such as events and boss battles, it's not uncommon to see a group of Level 50 players wearing the same gear pieces, wandering aimlessly.

In dungeons, these bots will generally perform well, until the party reaches the boss fight, where they'll die to the simplest mechanics. On Reddit, there are screenshots of players with incomprehensible names trying to matchmake through Throne and Liberty's Party Finder, as evidenced by Saintlirious's post.

Fortunately for players, the developer has clarified that they actively listen to their playerbase and closely monitor their concerns. The studio has already implemented harsh penalties on players exploiting Throne and Liberty's market for RMT and has discussed ban waves in the future.
