How to get and use Runes in Throne and Liberty
Runes in Throne and Liberty are a new system introduced as part of the 1.10.0 update. They are essential for building your character, especially during the end-game. Runes can unlock the full potential of your gear, significantly increasing your strength and other stats. You can also reroll them to make them fit your builds.
This guide explains everything you need to know about Runes in Throne and Liberty, including how to obtain and upgrade them and maximize their potential.
How to use Runes in Throne and Liberty
Runes are special items used to upgrade specific gear pieces in Throne and Liberty, including belts, bracers, necklaces, rings, and weapons. These upgrades provide stat bonuses based on the Rune type: Attack (increases offensive power), Defense (improves durability and resistance), and Support (enhances utility and healing capabilities).

Each piece of gear can hold up to three Runes and their configuration can grant additional synergy bonuses for even greater effects. Runes come in three rarities: Common (Gray), which maxes out at level 20, Uncommon (Green), which maxes out at level 40, and Rare (Blue), which maxes out at level 60.
However, the gear must first have its Rune slots unlocked using a Rune Hammer before Runes can be socketed.
How to get Runes in Throne and Liberty
Runes can be obtained via four main methods:
Challenge dungeon farming: Challenge dungeons are rotating versions of Tier 2 dungeons, offering up to 30 levels of difficulty and progressively better rewards. They are the most efficient method to farm Runes because they have no entry cost and can be repeatedly farmed without limitations. While Rune drops are random, challenge dungeons provide the most consistent farming opportunities.

Event rewards: Keep an eye on in-game events, which occasionally offer Runes as rewards for participation or completion.
Open-world dungeon farming: Open-world dungeons are another viable option, with mobs and bosses providing opportunities to collect Runes during exploration.
World bosses: Participating in world boss fights can yield Runes as part of the loot pool, making them a high-reward option for those willing to take on the challenge.
Runes can be leveled up to improve their effects, with maximum levels varying by rarity: Gray Runes can reach level 20, Green Runes level 40, and Blue Runes level 60. Upgrading them is resource-intensive, so focus on leveling up higher-rarity ones first to get the most out of each upgrade.
It’s essential to prioritize Runes that align with your character’s build, whether focusing on attack, defense, or support bonuses.
