Towers of Aghasba Amity mechanic, explained

Amity is your main currency in Towers of Aghasba, and also its central mechanic. It's used to further your progression with the game in various ways — from unlocking portals to growing your biome gardens. What makes an otherwise straightforward resource a currency is the fact that you can also lose it as a penalty for performing some necessary actions.

In this guide, we'll briefly explain the basics of the Amity mechanic in Towers of Aghasba and things you can do to manage it.

All life-affirming activities will give you Amity in Towers of Aghasba, as the forest-god tells you very early on. This includes feeding animals, planting trees, and also dispelling Withered influence.

By far, the easiest way to gain Amity is by planting seeds. To start with, you can forage bushes to get Thatch and Fibers, but also Common Seeds as a byproduct. Common Seeds can be planted on any soil anywhere in the world, and they will grow into a bush or occasionally a Spindleroot.

Planting seeds is always a net positive, so you can use this method to get a self-sustainable source of Amity. However, Common Seeds are also the ingredient used in farming to get your starter Lettuce, so keep that in mind.

Any objective required for growing a Colossal Tree level also generally tends to give you some Amity. This includes feeding animals in Towers of Aghasba, which rewards small amounts of Amity.

A much larger amount is gained by, again, planting Temperate Seeds. These are biome-exclusive seeds that can only be planted within the area currently under the biome's influence (identifiable by the foliage on the ground). You can get them from the branches and top of the Colossal Tree once every day-night cycle, and also as a random drop from feeding animals.

A third way is by destroying Withered nests. After you get rid of the enemies guarding it, you can hold the Interact button near these pulsing growths to vanquish them, drastically decreasing Withered spawns in the area. This gives you a bulk amount of Amity (about 30 on Amani Island).

What activities cause you to lose Amity in Towers of Aghasba?

Generally, killing herbivores will impose an Amity tax. The penalty is manageable for small fries like Beetlepups and Skirtaus, but the bigger the creature, the higher the Amity loss. With larger animals like Feather Snouts, you can lose 30+ Amity for killing just one. Fishing is also included in this rule.

Killing Withered enemies (Razis, Raziliths, and so on) does not incur Amity penalties, nor do they grant Amity.
