How to regain health in Towers of Aghasba
There's no passive health regeneration in Towers of Aghasba. As a regular Shimu child, your player character is quite frail and vulnerable to damage from all sorts of enemies — from the Withered spiders to the fierce predators. Given how easily you get ambushed by spiders out of nowhere while exploring the wilderness, it's important to have the means to recover.
If you're a beginner in Towers of Aghasba wondering how to regain your lost health (to stop the annoying heart-pounding sound effect if for nothing else), this guide is for you.
How to heal yourself in Towers of Aghasba
In Towers of Aghasba, various manners of edible items are the direct way to regain health. In the very early-game, you can pick up Berries off Berry Stumps or harvest Roots from Spindleweeds or Bushes. Both can recover a minor amount of health.
Roughly speaking, it will take nearly six Berries to regain one notch of health (half of your base health at the start). However, you shouldn't eat all the Berries and Roots to top off your health to 100%.
This is because the same food is also needed to feed animals in Towers of Aghasba — a necessary sacrifice to grow biomes. There's no benefit to being at 100% health early on. Instead, try to maintain one notch of health, which is generally enough to work with if you get ambushed.
The meat you get from hunting and fishing can also be eaten raw without any penalties to regain some health. This is also not the most cost-effective use of meat, though, as cooked food gives you much larger health gain.
What's the best early-game food to regain health in Towers of Aghasba?
In the early game, Mushroom Caps are the best raw food to regenerate health. These can be obtained from Bushrooms and Big Caps (requires Shovels). To make things better, these are sustainable food sources. Each Bushroom or Big Cap has a good chance of dropping one or more Fungi Spores, which can be planted on the ground to get another plant source that drops Mushroom Caps after a while.
Mushroom Caps and Raw Meat can be combined at a Campfire to make Skewered Meat, which replenishes the highest amount of health at this point in the game.
Once you unlock farming, Lettuce is also a great source of health-sustain that's also cheap to make.
Once you complete the Unleash the Hunter Within quest, Hao gives you the Thatchvest Tunic chestpiece, which increases health restored from all sources, including all food. With this, Berries and Roots also become a viable way to regain health.
