Towers of Aghasba: Where to plant the Temperate Colossal Seed?
During one of Towers of Aghasba's first set of quests, you're tasked with growing a biome from a Temperate Colossal Seed. The process of establishing it is simple enough: you have to find a spot and plant the seed to birth a biome surrounding it. However, this early on, the game does not explain what you need the biome for, and its subsequent ramifications.
In this guide, we'll explain: how biomes function, and how large they can grow, so you can make a more well-educated decision.
Where should you plant your Temperate Colossal Seed in Towers of Aghasba?
In Towers of Aghasba, biomes can grow quite large with time. For reference, let's use the valley visible when you first meet Ajit and get the parachute to glide down. A tier-3 King Colossal Tree can get a biome to grow large enough to cover the entirety of this valley if placed at the center.
Currently, my tier-3 Temperate Colossal Tree takes up about one-tenth of the entire Amani Island. The size itself is not a problem, as the Temperate biome does not bring anything harmful to the table. With your Colossal Seed placement in Towers of Aghasba, you generally want to take two things into account:
- Proximity from your town. The farming town that you build on Amani Island should be reasonably close to the Colossal Temperate Biome. This town will also function as the portal location in the future, so a closer biome means you get to access its resources faster.
- The biome should be on a flatland. Regardless of geometry, a biome can spread and grow through mountains and bodies of water in Towers of Aghasba. However, ensuring that at least a majority of it is on flatland is good for creature pathing, which makes for optimal hunting grounds as well as easier to plant trees on.
Where to place the Grand Temperate Seed in Towers of Aghasba?
Once you grow your Colossal Tree to tier-2, and thus grow your biome, you can collect a Grand Temperate Seed from the top of this tree. This creates an "unchoppable" tree, Fat Walker, that reinvigorates the biome. Simply put, placing this seed will extend the spread of the biome around it.
Furthermore, it can also act as a unique landmark to aid in your travels. Therefore it's useful to place it at the edge of the biome, in a direction where further growth would be useful.
