Warcraft 30th Anniversary stream roundup: All announcements made for 2025
Blizzard Entertainment is celebrating the Warcraft 30th Anniversary with a ton of amazing announcements. From shadow-dropping remasters of classic games, to updates and special events throughout their vast catalog of Warcraft-themed games, there’s a lot to be excited about, that’s for sure.
Whether you’re excited about the Retail WoW Roadmap for 2025, or the Warcraft Battle Chest, there are plenty of great reveals that came through the 30th Anniversary stream.
Here’s everything the developers discussed and unveiled.
All announcements made during the Warcraft 30th Anniversary stream
Perhaps the biggest announcements during the Warcraft 30th Anniversary stream were focused on the Retail World of Warcraft. Alongside the huge roadmap for the coming year, the major announcements involved Patch 11.2 - Undermine(d), where players will overthrow Gallywix in the Undermine raid. We also heard that housing is finally coming to the game!
Listed below is the content confirmed for 11.2:
- 2 new Delves - older ones will receive thematic updates.
- 1 new dungeon - will also be in the Season 2 Mythic+ pool.
- Customizable mount (D.R.I.V.E.).
- 8-boss raid in Undermine, to defeat Gallywix.
In the Midnight expansion, the second part of the WorldSoul Saga, players will finally be able to have a house to call their own. We’ll learn more about it next year. Many hope it won’t be another Garrison 2.0, and won’t eventually become obsolete. There are also expectations it won’t turn out to be incredibly hard to get a house, like in Final Fantasy 14.
World of Warcraft Classic will celebrate the Warcraft 30th Anniversary as well. The Season of Discovery is ending, and WoW Classic Cataclysm will shift over to WoW Mists of Pandaria Classic. There will be “#somechanges”, but we don’t know what that will entail, at this time.
One thing fans have been asking for is Fresh Start Classic servers, and we’re going to get just that. In addition, Hardcore will come to those servers, as they move through Classic content and into Burning Crusade. However, the non-Hardcore servers will transition into Burning Crusade. It’s yet unknown what Hardcore players will have to do.
According to the Warcraft 30th Anniversary stream, there will be three Hearthstone expansions coming, alongside an incredibly ambitious mini-set - Heroes of Starcraft. That’s right! Protoss, Terrans, and Zerg are coming to Hearthstone, as revealed during the Warcraft 30th Anniversary stream.
The first expansion of the year comes after the Underground Arena - Emerald Dream is the location of the first expansion. The second expansion will send players to The Shrouded City, and the third will involve Chromie in The Heroes of Time.
Even the relatively new Warcraft Rumble will see an update — it’s confirmed to be coming to PC! The beta for this will show up on December 10, 2024. A new feature is also on the way - Split Leaders. These will be a part of two families at a time, with examples given being Ogrim Doomhammer, Malfurion Stormrage, and Anub’arak.
Finally, the games that started it all were brought back during the Warcraft 30th Anniversary stream: The Warcraft Battle Chest! It comes with Warcraft: Orcs and Humans Remastered, Warcraft II: Tides of War Remastered, and Warcraft III Reforged. Warcraft III Reforged also has the new 2.0 update that brings a wealth of new features, including a customizable visual experience.
This lets players choose between Reforged graphics, Classic graphics, or the Remastered Classic Game presentation, with increased resolution for modern systems. You can also mix and match elements of the UI from these options. If you already own parts of this bundle (such as Warcraft III: Reforged), the price will be adjusted to reflect that.
