Warframe 1999's Atomicycle now works in all missions, with a nod from the developers

The Atomicycle was one of the earliest features revealed for Warframe 1999, and now its presence has become much larger than anticipated. Due to a day-one oversight, players could deploy the Atomicycle anywhere, including regular tiled missions. Seeing how ubiquitously fun the playerbase deemed it, Digital Extremes has turned the bug into a feature. They said in a post on the official subreddit:

"After some internal discussion, we’ve decided to not change this. It’s rad and cool and we enjoy seeing you whip out the bike throughout the Origin System!"

To get the Atomicycle, you have to beat The Hex quest. While it's a straightforward goal for veterans, players who have started recently will have a long way to go, since this is at the very end of the main quest chain as of December 2024.

Afterward, you'll have to equip the Summon Atomicycle command to your Gear Wheel, and you can deploy it during missions. Atomicycle handles quite a lot like K-Drives, except it's much harder to get forcefully dismounted by crashing into walls. Additionally, these bikes come with four abilities, including a dismount that grants you temporary invisibility.

While the developers have officially made it a feature, they've also clarified that this is an exception. You cannot, for example, ride your Kaithe in the Origin system.

It's customary for Warframe's open worlds to ship with its alternate traversal system. While Hollvania is not an open world in the same way as Duviri and the rest, its long-winding roads and tunnels make the Atomicycle a fitting choice of steed.

The reason why it's not technically a bug also has to do with how Hollvania is not an open world. It uses the same procedural generation as other non-open-world missions, stitching together a few variations of tilesets (room patterns). Naturally, the live version of the Atomicycle was also tuned to have tight handling that can adapt to the steep turns and narrow passages of the proc-gen city.
