What can we expect from Rust December update?
The Rust December update is right around the corner, leaving fans excited to know about the potential additions and changes coming with the latest force wipe. A brand-new Rust wipe offers players a chance to restart their progress and turn the tides of the harsh survival world in their favor.
This article will provide players with a detailed brief on the Rust December update and what to expect from it.
All expected changes coming in the Rust December update
As with every force wipe, the latest Rust update will go live on the first Thursday of December, i.e., December 5, 2024, at 7 pm BST/2 pm EST/11:30 pm IST. Here's a quick rundown of all the expected changes with this update:
Blueprint wipe
A new force wipe will clear every single blueprint players have learned over the course of their November wipe. Their progress will be reset on all official and community servers. Thus, they will have to restart their progress on a server of their choice.

New raid weapons
Though not confirmed, the Rust December update might potentially bring forth a range of new raid weapons in the game. Traditionally, Rust players have only had access to explosives, such as Rockets, Satchel Charges, and C4s. Moving forward, the December force wipe might introduce new raid artillery known as siege weapons.
As of now, the staging branch, Rust's test servers, currently feature a total of four unique siege weapons. Each has its pros and cons. These items will be craftable and deployable throughout all playable areas on the map other than Monuments.
It must be noted that the introduction of siege weapons should change the raid meta in Rust. It is expected to reshape the game differently and will provide more incentives for players to engage in online raiding.

Shields
As per cipeaX and SHADOWFRAX, Rust is planning to add shields to the game. The item is currently in development, and as of now, there are four different variants available within the game's staging branch.
Shields will take up backpack space in a player's model. When equipped, they will be able to combine this defensive tool with other compatible weapons, such as a spear or a pistol. It must be noted that players will not be able to aim down sights when using a shield.
