World of Warcraft 2025 roadmap revealed: Patch 11.1, Midnight Expansion reveal, new content, and more
World of Warcraft’s 2025 roadmap has been unveiled at the Warcraft 30th Anniversary livestream, during which the developers teased a ton of content across the various versions of the hit MMO. However, we focus on the Retail version of the game. We already knew the WorldSoul Saga was going to feature three expansions, but we now know when to expect more information about the second entry in that storyline.
The WorldSoul Saga will continue with Midnight, and while it’s not likely to launch in 2025, we will see the official reveal then. From interesting WoW Classic iterations to new content updates, here’s what to expect from World of Warcraft in 2025, according to the roadmap.
Note: We will update this article as the year goes on and more information is made available.
World of Warcraft 2025 roadmap so far - what’s on the way next year?
The World of Warcraft 2025 roadmap covers quite a few updates from 11.0.7, which should drop later this year, to the first major content drop for Season 2 and so much more. Later in 2025, we’ll learn more about Midnight, as well as Season 3, which will also be arriving later in 2025.
While we don’t have any definitive locations for this content, we do know that it will arrive sometime in late 2024, and throughout 2025. However, while the information is still quite scarce, the World of Warcraft 2025 roadmap is still a very exciting one.
The first major update is 11.0.7, which should arrive in late 2024 — Siren Isle. We’ll get new story quests, an upgradeable ring in Cyrce’s Circlet, and an update to the Winter Veil holiday. For fans of Timewalking, Turbulent Timeways will also return during this patch. Between that and Patch 11.1, Plunderstorm will also return for a limited time!
The World of Warcraft 2025 roadmap also reveals that in late Winter (early 2025), we’ll see the next season of content — Undermine(d). We do know that this will take players to the Undermine zone — home of the Goblins. We’ll see a new dungeon in Operation: FLOODGATE and will liberate Undermine from Gallywix in a new raid.
A new Renown will unlock in the form of Goblin Cartels, and we’ll have some Warbands UI updates in Warbands Camp and Collections. Finally, there’s also a new customizable ground mount coming with D.R.I.V.E..
In Spring 2025, World of Warcraft will have two updates - 11.1.5 and 11.1.7. The first update adds Nightfall content, a return of Horrific Visions, and an update to the annoying holiday Children’s Week. In the second Spring Update, we’ll get more Story and Quests, as well as a series of content and system updates. If that weren’t enough, we’ll get even more Turbulent Timeways, for those Timewalking fans.
The next major update drops in Summer 2025 for World of Warcraft - the Roadmap revealed Season 3 will hit around then (11.2). While we have no idea what the flavor or theme will be, it will of course bring new events, a new dungeon and raid, open-world content, and much more. We’ll also see some updates to the Brewfest holiday.
Between then, and Autumn 2025, we’ll get an official reveal of World of Warcraft: Midnight, the next major expansion. There's very little information on the expansion, other than we do know Housing is coming to the game. Then, we’ll head into Autumn 2025, for 11.2.5, which features a few updates, alongside the 21st anniversary of WoW.
Update 11.2.7 will hit in late Autumn, and will offer more story and quests, alongside some content and system updates, all of which are very mysterious right now. At the very end, there’s a Runic symbol, but it’s unknown what that could mean. It could be some kind of Season of Discovery or something related to Hearthstone.
