Supercell bans Goblinstein from Clash Royale Spooky Chess eventĀ

Supercell has officially banned the character Goblinstein from the ongoing Clash Royale Spooky Chess event which started on October 28 and will be running till November 4, 2024. This decision comes after players reported that Goblinstein was causing significant balancing issues within the game mode leading to an unfair advantage for those using him.

The Spooky Chess event introduces a unique twist to the traditional gameplay, allowing players to engage in 1v1 and 2v2 matches in a chess-like format. Participants must create a deck of eight cards to compete against opponents, while the arena features both a King and a Queen Tower (Mother Witch) to enhance strategic depth.

However, the inclusion of Goblinstein, a powerful champion card, quickly became contentious as players discovered techniques that made him nearly unbeatable in this setting.

Clash Royale bans Goblisntein after community feedback

In response to community feedback and the need for fair play, Supercell has decided to remove Goblinstein from the event lineup entirely. This ban is part of a broader effort by the developers to maintain balance in competitive play, especially during special events that attract significant player engagement.

The Spooky Chess event is part of Clash Royale's Shocktober 2 season, which features various Halloween theme challenges and rewards. Players have been showing off their skills and strategies by actively participating in the event. So, they will be required to adapt to the new rules by Supercell for the rest of the season.

Apart from the announcement regarding Goblinstein's ban, the Finnish gaming giant has also teased the upcoming update which will be going live next Monday.

Previously, the developers announced an emergency nerf for Goblinstein to level the playing field. This decision came after many players complained about how the card was simply too overpowered. The latest ban shows the commitment of the developers to their global player base.
