Squad Busters to remove one major feature of the game, here's why
In an effort to improve gameplay accessibility, Squad Busters has announced the removal of the win streaks feature in the upcoming update. Supercell explained that this change is a result of the community's feedback and the development team's introspection regarding the feature's impact on player experience. It will be reflected in the game from December 16, 2024.
This article elaborates on the details of this change and the impact that it could have on the Squad Buster community.
Why are win streaks being removed from Squad Busters?
The developers have acknowledged that winning streaks, originally designed as a motivating factor, have fallen short of feeling rewarding for many players. Instead, the system has inadvertently introduced unwanted tension and hesitation to play, particularly for players who feared losing their streaks.
This has made the game feel less accessible, creating unnecessary stress rather than enhancing enjoyment. By removing win streaks, the developers aim to remove the pointless stress that many players may feel. Supercell also announced that this removal aligns with an upcoming rework of the end-of-battle flow whose details have not been revealed yet.
What are the rewards for maintaining high win streaks in Squad Busters?
Players with the highest win streaks will get a legacy achievement, which can be viewed on their profile to showcase their hard work. Furthermore, players will be awarded exclusive emotes based on their win streak milestones on December 16, 2024. The milestone levels are given below:
- Milestone 1: 0–9 wins
- Milestone 2: 10 wins
- Milestone 3: 25 wins
- Milestone 4: 50 wins
- Milestone 5: 100 Wins
The quality of emojis will improve as players progress through the milestone levels.
Apart from the win streak, there will be a minor change to Reward Chests, which will require fewer taps to open after the update goes live, making the process easier.

Addressing Coin compensation concerns
One of the main questions raised by the community involves the Coins spent on maintaining win streaks. While the developers recognize this concern, they have clarified that direct compensation will not be provided.
This decision stems from the dual nature of maintaining win streaks, which not only served as a progression metric but allowed players to earn additional in-game items from Reward Chests.
Furthermore, they mentioned that direct compensation could potentially widen the gap between free-to-play and paying players, which they are trying to avoid.
