Mongil: Star Dive features Verna and Cloud as protagonists, who will explore the world of Belana during their adventures. Using the powers of little characters called Nyanners, players will be able to tame monsters roaming that world. These tamed monsters will then help players in adventures, either by fighting in battles or transforming into an equipable item, known as Monster-ring.

Besides Verna and Cloud, players will also encounter and use other characters to progress through story mode or complete missions assigned by the in-game guild.

In terms of combat, players will get access to a party of playable characters, backed with monsters they have caught along the way. Additionally, they can create groups of playable characters to explore the world.

In terms of gameplay, Mongil: Star Dive resembles titles like Genshin Impact and Wuthering Waves. It is a third-person game where we control a party of playable characters to explore an open world while defeating enemies that co-exist there.

Additionally, the monster-controlling aspects of the game make it similar to titles like Pokemon Go and Miraibo Go.

The trailer displayed two means of combat that the protagonists use — monsters and weapons. However, it is yet to be seen which category will be more prevalent in the game.
