Why is Spike unavailable in Brawl Stars?
Supercell recently announced that they are temporarily disabling Spike in Brawl Stars. The developers made this announcement on X through a post stating that Spike is facing a new bug that allows him to heal indefinitely while using a certain Demonic modifier. Moreover, the team is working on introducing a new system of rolling out maintenance updates along with temporarily disabling the Spirit Wars game mode from the Brawl Stars Angels vs Demons season contest.
This article will explain the reason behind the temporary removal of Spike in Brawl Stars, along with other new changes and updates the game has in store for us.
Removal of Spike in Brawl Stars due to major bug
First off, the biggest update comes in the form of temporarily removing Spike in Brawl Stars, one of the best and most popular legendary brawlers in Brawl Stars, and his removal might upset many players. However, the decision to do so comes from the fact that there is a major bug that makes this brawler invincible, as it continuously heals all damage.
If you are using the best Spike build by using the Fertilizer star power and the Demonfire modifier, Spike will instantly heal any damage he takes. While his star power makes him heal every second when he is inside his super’s area of effect, the bug causes Spike to heal when he is standing on the trail of Demonfire he leaves behind. Therefore, you don’t need to activate his super ability and stand on it to heal. You can do so simply by standing still in one place.
This is the primary reason Spike is temporarily disabled in Brawl Stars for now. However, the developers have confirmed that they are working on fixing this bug, promising players that their favorite cactus will be back again after two to three days.
So far, Brawl Stars always rolled out maintenance updates in one go, where the patches and fixes become live on all of their servers. However, Supercell seem to be keen on trying out a new way of rolling out the new bug fix. They have stated that they will roll out the bug fix one server at a time. Therefore, Spike in Brawl Stars will be slowly available to all players.
Removal of Angels and Demons modifiers in Heist and Spirit Wars along with Demonfire rework
Like the bug above, it seems that our jumping monkey, Mico, also has a game-breaking exploit. When you play the Heist and Spirit Wars game modes by using Mico equipped with the Demonfire modifier, you can instantly almost one-shot the enemy safe (heist) or turret (spirit wars). You can do so by landing on the enemy safe or turret using Mico’s super and instantly jumping over it multiple times.
While the instant landing does a lot of damage, it can destroy it if you use Mico to jump on it repeatedly and burn the ground with Demonfire on each hit. While this is technically not a bug, players can whittle down the enemy safe or turret’s health quickly compared to other characters.
Due to this Mico exploit and the Spike bug, Supercell has temporarily removed the use of Angels and Demons modifiers in these two game modes, along with removing Spirit Wars from the contest entirely for now. Moreover, they have announced that they will be reworking the Demonfire modifier to make it deal less damage to safes and turrets.
While many players might be disheartened to see the temporary removal of Spike, the devs have confirmed that all players will receive three Angelic and Demonic drops for free as compensation when the maintenance update finishes rolling out in the next few days.
