Did Teresa Earnhardt have children? Everything you need to know
Teresa Diane Earnhardt (maiden name Houston) is popularly known as Teresa Earnhardt. She is the third wife and widow of the late NASCAR Cup Series driver Dale Earnhardt and has a daughter with him, named Taylor Nicole Earnhardt.
Dale Earnhardt and Teresa Houston got married in 1982, almost a decade after they met in the 1970s. Houston is the third wife after Earnhardt divorced his first two wives, Latane Brown, and Brenda Gee. Six years later, in 1988, Taylor Nicole Earnhardt was born to Earnhardt and Houston.
Besides this, she is also the stepmother of Kerry Earnhardt, the son of Earnhardt and his first wife Brown, and Kelley Earnhardt Miller and Dale Earnhardt Jr., the son and daughter of Earnhardt's second wife Gee.
Teresa Earnhardt was born on October 29, 1958, in Hickory, North Carolina. She was born into a Jewish family, a family with a deep-rooted racing background. She was the daughter of Hal Houston, niece of Tommy Houston, and cousin of Andy Houston.
The Hickory native completed her graduation from Bunker Hill High School in Claremont, North Carolina, and has a degree in commercial art and interior design. She is currently 58 years old and has a net worth of $50 million (as per Celebrity Net Worth). She is also a former owner of a NASCAR team, Dale Earnhardt, Inc. (DEI)
Teresa Earnhardt's relationship with her stepsons
Teresa Earnhardt (Houston) has a strained relationship with her step-sons — Kerry Earnhardt and Dale Earnhardt Jr. It all started with the latter during Dale Earnhardt Inc.'s operation in NASCAR. In May 2007, it was announced that Earnhardt Jr. would no longer return to the team after both parties failed to reach an agreement.
Following this, the strained relationship ended to a great extent, as three siblings could claim equal rights to the business. Then came the trademark dispute with Kerry Earnhardt regarding the name "Earnhardt" in 2012.
It was when Teresa decided to sue her stepson over the use of "Earnhardt" in his "Earnhardt Collection" for a collection of custom homes. The court ruled in favor of Teresa Houston, which made the Earnhardt brothers unhappy.
Dale Earnhardt Jr. and Kelley Earnhardt Miller were supportive of their half-brother as they condemned Teresa Houston. As per Bob Pockrass of Fox Sports, Earnhardt Jr. said on the matter,
"I hate this for my brother," Earnhardt Jr. tweeted. "He's a good soul and my father would be proud of him and what he's accomplished."
Apart from this, Teresa Earnhardt merged DEI with Chip Ganassi to form Earnhardt Ganassi Racing in 2008. This has come after her team lost the support of sponsors, Budweiser, and the U.S. Army following Earnhardt Jr.'s departure.
However, Ganassi dropped the Earnhardt name in 2014, stating that Teresa Houston was hardly involved with the team. Chip Ganassi sold the same team to Justin Marks in 2021, and it currently operates as Trackhouse Racing.
