$24M-worth Joey Logano shares NASCAR details, favorite track, and movie picks
On the heels of winning his third NASCAR Cup Series championship, Joey Logano recently sat down for a light-hearted interview. The Connecticut native, who's worth $24 million according to Celebrity Net Worth, was asked about numerous topics.
In an interview conducted by Bleacher Report Racing, the driver of the #22 Team Penske Ford was asked to list his top three racing movies of all time.
"Days of Thunder, Ford v Ferrari, and Rush," Logano said.
The three-time champion was then asked what the NASCAR acronym stands for. Logano was stumped on the "A" part of the acronym as he said:
"NASCAR Association Stock Car Automobile Racing? Auto racing, yeah, same thing."
The 34-year-old was then questioned on what's something about NASCAR racing that might surprise someone unfamiliar with the sport. The 36-time Cup Series winner said:
"A lot of people think we just drive in circles, and it's true. We are. When you add the competition to it and all the strategy that goes along with it, it becomes so deep. Team Penske, where I drive, has 400 people building our cars."
The next question to Logano was what type of "boost" he could add to his race car if he were allowed to.
"Anything to make it go faster," Logano said. "I'm taking the boost. Straightaway speed."
When asked what his favorite track on the NASCAR circuit is, Logano said it's Bristol Motor Speedway, the 0.5-mile, high-banked short track in Bristol, Tennessee.
"Grandstands all the way around it," Logano said. "We race there at night."
The final question asked to him was the last time he felt scared on the racetrack. Logano said:
"Usually, you realize you're scared. Like, when you're wrecking, it's over. It happens so fast. By the time you realize you're wrecking, boom, you're done."
Logano captured his third career Cup Series championship last Sunday in the 312-lap season finale race at the Phoenix Raceway, holding Team Penske teammate and defending champion Ryan Blaney for the title. Blaney came in runner-up of the Championship 4 drivers, followed by William Byron and Tyler Reddick in third and fourth, respectively.
Joey Logano said he isn't listening to criticism regarding his title win
Joey Logano's 2024 championship triumph sparked displeasure from race fans and figures in the NASCAR industry. Logano posted a 17.1 average finish in 2024, the worst of any champion in the sport's history, which led fans to say he wasn't worthy of winning the title.
However, when asked about the negative comments, Logano said he wasn't responding to them.
"I've got nothing to say to them," Logano said. "I got a pretty sweet trophy right now. I've been laughing all the way to the bank."
Logano's first two championships came in 2018 and 2022. His three championships are the most under the 16-driver playoff format since it was adopted in 2014.
