"I'm really excited about that": Dale Earnhardt Jr. makes his feelings known for the Florence Speedway race
Dale Earnhardt Jr. retired full-time from the NASCAR Cup Series in 2017 and has been competing as a part-time driver in the Xfinity Series for his team, JR Motorsports. He last competed in the Xfinity Bristol race where he secured a seventh spot. Although with the underlying uncertainty of his racing schedule for the 2025 season, Dale Jr. announced his reunion with Budweiser for the Late Model race.
In a recent episode of the Dale Jr. Download, two-time Daytona 500 winner Dale Jr. discussed the South Carolina 400 event at Florence Motor Speedway amid his reunion with Budweiser.
Dale Jr. said:
"It's a 250-lap race. 'm really excited about that. There's not many long races in the late model stock ecosystem. There are 56 cars currently signed up to enter this race for 36 spots, and these are some of the best of the best late model stocks in all of the southeast, Mid Atlantic region; trying to even make this race will be an accomplishment."
Furthermore, Dale Jr. spoke about the tough competition that lies while competing to qualify and the scenarios if the entry list gets increased from 56. He said:
"There's 36 cars or more; if more sign up, split into two heat races. And the top six of those will go to the main event. There are four provisionals; he has his own system on how he goes out to provisionals, but listen, man, it's gonna be a tough race to make." [01:16]
Budweiser under its parent company, Anheuser-Busch, has been a part of NASCAR's rich history and drivers for many years. They also sponsored former Cup Series champion Kevin Harvick for more years than Dale Jr. and now is in partnership with Trackhouse's Ross Chastain under the Busch Light banner.
