Amy Earnhardt urges her 296,000 followers to adopt dog that was sent to be euthanized by previous owner

Dale Earnhardt Jr.'s wife Amy Earnhardt took to Instagram to urge her followers to give Gibbs a second home. Gibbs is a one-and-a-half-year-old dog looking to get adopted after the previous owner sent him to a shelter for euthanasia.

Earnhardt is the wife of former NASCAR driver Dale Earnhardt Jr. The couple got married in late 2016 and have two daughters: Isla Rose and Nicole Lorraine.

She reposted Gibbs' story on her Instagram, allowing her 296,000 followers to learn more about the dog.

Meanwhile, the shelter, Piedmont Animal Rescue, shared how Gibbs ended up with the shelter after the previous owner tried to put him down.

"Gibbs is a tiny 38lbs, one-and-a-half-year-old with a big heart. He might seem shy at first, but his sweetness shines through once you get to know him," Piedmont Animal Rescue wrote.

According to Piedmont Animal Rescue, its shelter staff saw something special in Gibbs. The staff spared the dog from euthanasia before a foster family took him in.

However, Gibbs is still looking for a new home, preferably a household with a dog or two. The dog still hides from men but the shelter believes he can regain confidence in a new and loving family.

"With patience, routine, and lots of love, Gibbs can blossom into the happy, confident dog he deserves to be," Piedmont Animal Rescue concluded.

Dale Earnhardt Jr. also has two dogs, though he had cats and hamsters before. The two dogs are Gus, an Irish setter, and Junebug, a Pomeranian.

Dale Earnhardt Jr. and wife Amy wish Merry Christmas with cocktail recipe

Ahead of Christmas day, Dale Earnhardt Jr. and his wife Amy shared a recipe of a holiday-themed cocktail. He calls the cocktail "Sugar Cookie Martini", which is made with his vodka brand, High Rock.

In an X (formerly Twitter) post, High Rock Vodka shared a video of the couple making the cocktail:

"Combine one and half ounces of High Rock with one ounce of Sugarlands chocolate coffee sipping cream, one ounce of Mark and Diggers hazelnut rum, two ounces of cream, one teaspoon powdered sugar, and a splash of Sugarlands birthday cake sipping cream," Dale Jr. said.

Upon completion, the 26-time Cup race winner offered Santa Claus the cocktail and thanked everyone for making the year special.

"Shake and strain into a glass, garnish with golden sugar rim. Now that's pretty good treat for Santa! We appreciate each of you making 2024 a very special year," he added.

Amy Earnhardt Jr. concluded:

"Cheers to a Merry Christmas and happy holidays."

Dale Earnhardt Jr. ended the year with one entry in the NASCAR Xfinity Series. He drove the No. 88 JR Motorsports Chevrolet in the Food City 300 at Bristol Motor Speedway, finishing seventh after starting 13th.

The former Hendrick Motorsports driver also brought the Budweiser No. 8 car back to the racing scene at Florence Motor Speedway. He managed to climb from 40th to second in the South Carolina 400 but a fuel pump issue retired his car early.

For 2025, Dale Jr. doesn't have plans to go racing, though he's not ruling out competing again.
