“Holy shit. Wow. That’s crazy”: Ryan Blaney in disbelief after watching Tyler Reddick’s crash for the first time post-race
Ryan Blaney shared his thoughts on Tyler Reddick after the Team Penske man witnessed the 23XI driver's flip during the South Point 400 at Las Vegas. Sunday's playoffs race at Las Vegas Motor Speedway saw Reddick get involved in a multi-car crash in Lap 90, as Blaney saw the harrowing crash in post-race.
The Stage 2 incident of the 400-mile race saw Reddick get involved in a wreck with Chase Elliott, resulting in both drivers finishing outside the top 30. While Martin Truex Jr. was also involved, he managed to continue and finish the race in sixth place. Notably, Blaney and Brad Keselowski were also caught in the aftermath.
However, the #12 and #6 drivers were able to continue the race, but it was game over for Reddick, Elliott, and Joey Gibbs Racing's Truex Jr. As Blaney continued the race, he did not get to watch Reddick's flip instantly, which he did after the race.
As he watched the flip with disbelief, here's how he reacted to the incident as per Kelly Crandall of Racer,
“Holy shit, the 45 flipped over? Holy shit. Woah. I didn’t even know it flipped over. Holy shit. Wow. That’s crazy.”
Ryan Blaney could not finish the race, as it ended in Lap 259 of 267. His teammate Joey Logano took the South Point 400 victory ahead of Christopher Bell and Daniel Suarez.
Christopher Bell shares his take on Ryan Blaney's help for Joey Logano
Sunday's playoff race in Las Vegas saw Ryan Blaney play an absolute team game for Joey Logano. The #22 driver, who was running with one fuel tank, ultimately claimed the victory at Las Vegas Motor Speedway, but his teammate Blaney played an all-important part.
The Team Penske driver safeguarded Logano's position against Bell. Reacting to Blaney's defense, here's what the JGR driver said post-race,
“Regardless of how much time he had, the 12 car was with Joey trying to play defense for him. So, it was going to take the right move to get by him but we had, what was it, 30 almost 40 lap newer tires? I think it’s fair game and you know, props to him," Bell told Bob Pockrass of Fox Sports.
"I think the 22 winning was probably bad for the 12. Because they’re racing each other for points to get in. So, you know, Penske, they won the race and got one car in so they did it right."
Joey Logano technically qualified for Championship 4 this season and can set his eye on the third NASCAR Cup Series championship at Phoenix, thanks to his victory.
