“Hopefully someday it can become reality”: Zane Smith’s wife McCall makes her ‘dream’ feelings known about her husband’s NASCAR fate

Zane Smith's wife McCall has made her 'dream' known about the husband's first NASCAR Cup Series race win. The 25-year-old began his rookie Cup Series campaign this season, fielding the #71 Spire Motorsports Chevrolet.

While Smith doesn't boast full-time racing experience in the Xfinity Series, his prowess became known in the paddock following his consecutive runner-up finishes in the 2020 and 2021 Truck Series seasons, the 2022 title, and a P7 in 2023. Thus, he became a hot prospect in the sport and secured a multiyear deal with Spire Motorsports beginning the 2024 season.

Zane Smith posted two top-5s and four top-10s, with the best result at the Nashville Superspeedway where he settled in P2 after losing the battle to Joey Logano. That being said, McCall, who addresses herself as Smith's 'cheerleader,' expressed she had a dream last night where her husband clinched his first Cup victory.

McCall took to X (formerly Twitter), hoping her dream would become a reality. She wrote.

"Had a dream last night that Zane won his first cup race! Hopefully, someday that dream can become reality 🙏🏼🤍. Can you tell I’m already missing NASCAR? LOL," McCall Tweeted.

It's worth mentioning that Smith's run in the final 10 races was better than that of the 26-race regular season slate. From his two top-5s and four top-10s, the latest top-5 came at the Watkins Glen playoff race, and the final top-10 was secured after a one-race gap, at the Kansas Speedway.

"Absolutely miserable three-four months": Zane Smith opens up on his NASCAR future

Since 2022, Zane Smith fielded a handful of part-time Cup entries for RFK Racing, Front Row Motorsports, and Rick Ware Racing, registering a best finish of P10 in the 2023 Coca-Cola 600 at the Charlotte Motor Speedway. In addition to his Truck triumphs, Smith's Cup experience would've contributed to his Spire deal.

Smith entered into a multiyear deal but Spire Motorsports announced on August 23 that they won't continue with the Californian in the 2025 season, leaving the Truck Series champion's NASCAR future hanging by a thread.

Following the Championship Race at Phoenix, the former Spire driver said that had he known about the termination sooner, he would've taken appropriate steps to prevent landing in the situation he's currently in —no confirmed contract.

He elaborated (via Frontstretch).

“It’s been an absolutely miserable three-four months, I’m just figuring out what’s next obviously there’s not much available and there’s a lot going on in the sport right now. And I wish I was I could have known sooner that I was I was going to be like go to, so, we could maybe work towards that goal of figuring out what was next just because things fill up here,” Smith said (0:32).

While Zane Smith is out of Spire, Michael McDowell will replace the former in the #71 Chevy as he has inked a multiyear contract with the team.
