How many NASCAR Championships has Kevin Harvick won? All you need to know
Kevin Harvick is one of NASCAR's most accomplished drivers. The California native has done it all, from winning the Daytona 500, to winning 60 Cup Series races, to winning championships.
The 48-year-old was a championship threat throughout his career, even in his final season when he made the 16-driver playoffs. Here, we take a look at the number of NASCAR championships Harvick has claimed.
Kevin Harvick won two Xfinity Series championships and the 2014 Cup Series championship
Kevin Harvick signed with Richard Childress Racing in 2000 to drive the #2 car in the Xfinity Series, formally known as the Busch Grand National Series. In 2001, the same year he unexpectedly jumped up to Cup Series racing full-time due to the tragic death of Dale Earnhardt, Harvick became the Busch Grand National Series champion. He wheeled the #2 machine to five victories, 20 top-fives, and 24 top-10s. The triumph marked RCR's first championship in the series.
Harvick snagged his second career Xfinity Series championship in 2006. This time, Harvick drove the #21 car for RCR and posted nine victories, 23 top-fives, and 32 top-10s. Perhaps most impressive, Harvick finished all 35 races inside the top 20.
Harvick's career got off to a hot start, but a Cup Series championship eluded him throughout his 13-year tenure with RCR. He came close multiple times, placing third in the final standings in both 2010 and 2011 with seven wins across the two seasons. Harvick won another four races with RCR in 2013 and again finished third in the points.
In 2014, Harvick partnered with three-time Cup Series champion Tony Stewart to drive at Stewart-Haas Racing. Piloting the #4 Budweiser Chevrolet, Harvick quickly made an impact and won the 2014 championship in the first season of the 16-driver playoff format. It marked Harvick's first and only Cup Series title and the second for SHR. Harvick won five races, led over 2,000 laps, and registered 14 top-fives and 20 top-10s.
Through the rest of his stint at SHR, which lasted from 2015 until his retirement season in 2023, Harvick had strong showings nearly every season but narrowly missed a second Cup title. In 2015, he posted three wins and 15 second-place finishes, but fell just short of the championship to Kyle Busch.
In 2017, Harvick won two races and made his third appearance in the Championship 4. However, he finished third among the title contenders, behind runner-up Busch and champion Martin Truex Jr.
Harvick made Championship 4 appearances in 2018 and 2019 as well, winning 12 races across the two seasons, but was unable to win the championship in either year. Despite winning a season-high nine races in 2020, Harvick failed to make the Championship 4 and was once more thwarted of a championship opportunity.
