“I'm going to shock you with this news”: Kenny Wallace hosts ‘emergency press conference’ on SM to clap back on haters claiming ‘demise of NASCAR’

Former NASCAR driver and reporter Kenny Wallace recently took his X (formerly Twitter) account to host an impromptu “emergency press conference,” addressing critics who claim NASCAR is on the decline. A retired NASCAR driver is currently competing in dirt track racing and continues to stay close to NASCAR through his social media handles.

Kenny Wallace, who is known for his vibrant personality and love for NASCAR, argued against the negativity surrounding the sport, highlighting the recent announcement of Riley Herbst joining 23XI Racing as a third car driver in the 2025 season. The 61-year-old Missouri also takes a jab at critics who often predict the ‘demise of NASCAR’, emphasizing the sport’s vitality with such developments.

In his characteristic animated style, Wallace said:

"Emergency press conference, we did coffee with Kenny, and the NASCAR news is rocking this morning. My Lord, the demise of NASCAR, as I've always said, is greatly exaggerated. Race fans, I know there's a handful of you that just can't stand to see NASCAR doing so good. I'm going to shock you with this news."
"I looked at it about to spit my coffee out and went, What? Announced by Bob Pockrass on X with a wonderful video, a beautiful video by #23XI, Riley Herbst is the third car at #23XI."

Last year, NASCAR signed a jaw-dropping $7.7 billion media rights deal over seven years, starting in 2025. Despite an ongoing legal battle with NASCAR regarding a charter dispute, Denny Hamlin and Michael Jordan's co-owned 23XI team announced their third entry at Cup level. While Brad Keselowski’s RFK Racing signed Ryan Preece as their third full-time driver for the 2025 season.

“The demise of NASCAR is greatly exaggerated. They just signed a $7.7 billion TV contract; #23XI is suing NASCAR, but they just started the third team with Riley Herbst. Roush Fenway just started the third team with Ryan Preece. As always, respond right here,” Kenny Wallace concluded.

“They just announced with a wonderful video”: Kenny Wallace praised 23XI Racing on their third Cup entry

After spending five full-time seasons in the Xfinity Series, Riley Herbst will have the opportunity to compete at the highest echelon of the sport with 23XI Racing, beginning with the Daytona 500 in 2025.

On Wednesday (November 20), 23XI Racing announced the addition of Riley Herbst to the 2025 roster via video that left an impression on Kenny Wallace.

Reacting to it, Wallace said:

“They just announced with a wonderful video, yes, Riley Herbst, who won some races last year in the Xfinity series and showed a lot of talent, gets the big break, sponsored by Monster Energy Drink, and Riley Hurst will be the third-cup car.”
