"I'm out of storage space" - Michael Jordan backed Tyler Reddick talks about his expanding shoe collection
23XI Racing driver Tyler Reddick is running out of storage space for his Air Jordan collection, which has quite obviously expanded since he joined Michael Jordan and Denny Hamlin's co-owned Cup Series team in 2023.
As a Jordan Brand athlete, Reddick has elevated his sneaker game, coordinating his race weekend apparel to match the paint schemes on his #45 Toyota. The 28-year-old insists he liked Air Jordans even before joining the team, but now he enjoys the luxury of stockpiling them.
In a recent interview with Fox Sports reporter Bob Pockrass, Reddick said that he has always been particular about his sneaker choices. However, joining Michael Jordan's team has provided him with a diverse range of options to choose from for race weekends, race shop visits, and various other occasions.
"I always did pay attention to shoes. But it's just been really fun to ... probably my favorite brand of shoe was Jordans. And now I get to just stockpile them. I've got many choices when it comes to what color I'm going to wear that day with what I have on the car, or what I'm feeling like wearing to the shop, or whatever I've got going on. Between the highs and lows, I've got plenty of options for summer and winter," he said.
The American shared that he is running out of storage space for his ever-expanding shoe collection and is considering converting one of his workout or storage rooms into a shoe room.
"I'm out of storage space. I've got to take my workout/storage room and turn it into a shoe room. That'll be fun. Yeah, you would think my wife would have all the shoes. But it's actually me that has all the shoes," he said.
Kurt Busch first took the Jordan Brand Toyota to victory lane in Kansas in 2022, with Reddick repeating the feat in Talladega earlier this year, with the Jumpman logo on the hood of his #45 Toyota.
Tyler Reddick reveals his favorite pair of sneakers
In an interview with Kevin Harvick earlier this season, Tyler Reddick revealed that his shoe collection had grown to 72 pairs in March. He chose Travis Scott Black Phantoms as his favorite pair, as the all-black shoes are both durable and resistant to stains.
"I think the recent shipments got me up to 72. I kind of mix it up, I have a couple of favorites. I'd say my favorite pair that I wear most of the time just because they're very very durable — I even wore them to the Bristol Dirt Race — are my Travis Scott Phantoms. They're like an all-black shoe, has some white stitching." he said [at 27:30].
Reddick added that he picks the Yellow Lightning whenever he is running the Monster Energy Nasty Beast paint scheme. Harvick, however, was unfamiliar with the shoe names. The 23XI Racing driver explained that he prefers to coordinate his sneakers with the paint schemes used on race weekends.
