"I saw that coming a while back" - Kenny Wallace reacts to Brad Keselowski potentially starting third team at RFK amid NASCAR struggles

Kenny Wallace recently shared his thoughts on Brad Keselowski’s potential plan to start a third team at RFK Racing. The team currently fields two full-time cars in the NASCAR Cup Series and one (No. 60) part-time car.

Keselowski, co-owner of RFK Racing, has been rumored to be planning for a third full-time car for the past few months. He even hinted at the idea in a tweet earlier this week. Wallace discussed the team's expansion in a recent episode of "Coffee with Kenny".

"Brad Keselowski and Roush Fenway are starting a third team...I saw that one coming a while back. But NASCAR is failing, it's struggling, ratings are down. It's doing so bad,” Wallace said (00:54).

He also mentioned Tad Geschickter’s success with Ricky Stenhouse Jr.'s team and suggested how food companies could make good sponsors and help fund a third team.

"Sounds to me like Tad Geschickter over there with Ricky Stenhouse's car...They work with Kroger, Kroger Foods...if you want to be sponsored by Oreo cookies, we go over there, get the Oreo cookies...Let's go over to Tide... So they've got a lot of different brands of food to choose from. Tad Geschickter is well-respected, you know, in the same situation," he added (01:10).

Keselowski teased major announcements for the team with a series of tweets on November 11.

"Look for several (official) big announcement from RFK in the next 2 weeks," Keselowski wrote.

RFK Racing began as Roush Racing in the 1980s and Keselowski joined in 2021 as a co-owner. There are rumors that the team might add former Stewart-Haas driver Ryan Preece to their third team.

"This format doesn’t feel ideal for rewarding the NASCAR cup championship" - Brad Keselowski on the NASCAR playoff format

Brad Keselowski and RFK Racing's Chris Buescher won one race this season. Keselowski ended a 110-race winless streak at Darlington while Buescher won his sixth Cup Series race at Watkins Glen.

After the season ended, Keselowski, 40, shared his thoughts on the current playoff system. He said Joey Logano deserved to win the championship but the format is not the best for deciding the Cup Series champion.

"2 things can be true at the same time- Joey Logano deserved to win the championship; This format doesn’t feel ideal for rewarding the NASCAR cup championship," Keselowski wrote.

Keselowski also talked about leaving Team Penske to become a team owner, writing:

"I’m not looking back, wondering what would’ve been if I stayed at Team Penske. Success as a driver owner, even if less as of today, means so much more to me."

The American won his first title with Penske Racing in 2012. He left the team in 2022 to start RFK Racing.
