In Pictures: Kyle Busch’s sponsor 3CHI shares sleek white livery of his #8 Chevy that could not race in NASCAR
Kyle Busch’s primary sponsor, 3CHI, worked on a paint scheme concept that won’t be used on track anytime soon. The concept shared on X (formerly Twitter) shows a sleek white livery sporting several cannabis design elements, which NASCAR didn’t green light.
Busch is a 39-year-old professional stock car racing driver piloting the No. 8 Chevrolet Camaro for Richard Childress Racing. In 2022, he signed a sponsorship deal with 3CHI, a US-based company selling hemp-derived products. The two debuted in NASCAR at the 2023 Daytona 500, which was the driver’s first race with RCR.
According to 3CHI, the cannabis-themed paint scheme was designed for the season finale at Phoenix Raceway. While the concept wasn’t used on track, the company was proud to share the render on X.
“And now… the moment you’ve been waiting for. @KyleBusch’s Phoenix race car design is here! While it didn’t hit the track, we’re proud to share what we created. Bold, fast, and ready to take on anything—this is what could’ve been,” 3CHI wrote on X.
Since the concept wasn’t put on the No. 8 Chevy, the car went for the default livery first seen at the 2023 Daytona 500. It had a dark base color complemented by gold scripts and accents including the company logo.
The championship race at Phoenix Raceway witnessed Kyle Busch finishing 21st after starting 25th on the field. The race also marked the end of his 19-year streak of winning at least one race in a season. His last race win was at the World Wide Technology Raceway last year with 3CHI as the title sponsor.
Fans react to Kyle Busch's disapproved race suit from primary sponsor
Aside from the paint scheme, 3CHI shared on X the race suit concept that goes with the car. The suit also had a white base color designed with cannabis, describing it as ‘crafted for safety, performance, and of course, style.’
When the company asked its followers on social media what they thought of the design, most were fond of the look. One X user said to materialize the concept for at the Daytona 500 in February.
“Bring this for the 500 please,” the fan commented.
“I like the entire design on the front left one and especially the detail on the pant leg,” another X user said.
“The fact that you actually tried to get this approved is a bold step in the right direction,” one fan argued.
“I’d like a diecast and 2 mini helmets please,” an X user wrote.
On the other hand, some X users weren’t fans of the design, with one commenter saying:
“How stupid it is haha”
Another X user said:
“I don’t like anything about this. Nope.”
Considering 3CHI posted these concepts in the off-season, the sponsorship could’ve been extended to 2025. However, the concerned parties have yet to make a statement on the matter.
