Kurt Busch takes girlfriend Lyda Moore to Chicago Bears' NFL game
Kurt Busch took his girlfriend Lyda Moore to watch an NFL game on Sunday. Busch posted a photo on his X (formerly Twitter) account where the couple attended a Bears home game against the Green Bay Packers at the Soldier Field stadium in Chicago.
Busch is a 46-year-old American professional racecar driver who won the NASCAR Cup Series championship with Roush Racing in 2004. While the driver announced his retirement in 2023 due to a concussion, he suffered at Pocono Raceway the previous year, he hinted at his return to the track, though the details remain scarce.
Kurt Busch and Lyda Moore showed up at the NFL game wearing Chicago Bears merch. He wrote on X:
“Took Lyda to Da Bears Game.”
In the same X post, the Las Vegas native also thanked the McCasky family, the owner of the Chicago Bears.
“Thanks to the McCasky Family,” Busch stated.
He added:
“Bear Down!”
At the conclusion of the game, the Green Bay Packers defeated the Chicago Bears 20-19. Packers sophomore defensive lineman Karl Brooks sealed the game after blocking the Bears’ field goal attempt. The home game loss extended the Chicago-based team’s cold streak against the Packers.
As for Kurt Busch, the last time he raced professionally was in 2022 with 23XI Racing, a team co-owned by NBA Hall of Famer Michael Jordan and Joe Gibbs Racing driver Denny Hamlin. He drove the No. 45 Toyota Camry before Tyler Reddick took over the car starting in the 2023 season.
Kurt Busch hinted at his return to racing after pleading guilty to DUI
Following pleading guilty to his arrest in August for DUI (driving under the influence), Kurt Busch released a statement taking full responsibility for his actions. In the same statement, Busch hinted at his return to racing before thanking everyone who supported him throughout the incident.
The statement read:
"I take full responsibility for my recent DWI arrest and deeply regret my actions. I voluntarily completed a pre-trial assessment and followed all recommendations ahead of my court date. I'm committed to making amends, ensuring this never happens again, and returning to racing with a renewed focus. Thank you to everyone who has supported me.”
According to reports, Busch was arrested last August 14 in North Carolina after he was accused of driving recklessly while under the influence. His breath test showed a BAC of .17, two times beyond the 0.8 limit in the US.
With him pleading guilty, Iredell County, N.C. reportedly dropped the reckless driving and speeding charges against him. The former driver was given a 60-day suspended jail sentence for 12 months while under unsupervised probation. He must also complete 24 hours of community service and pay a community service fee.
Reports say Busch had to surrender his driver’s license, which could affect his commitment to return to racing. However, the court official reportedly allowed the driver to apply for limited driving privileges.
