“My rock and my best friend”: Anthony Alfredo pens heartfelt note for wife Emily Brooks in raising awareness on diabetes
NASCAR driver Anthony Alfredo recently shared a supportive message for his wife Emily Brooks, to mark National Diabetes Awareness Month. Alfredo competed in the Xfinity Series for Our Motorsports and part-time in the Cup Series for Beard Motorsports this season.
The 25-year-old married Brooks in January this year after dating since 2018. In a post on X, Alfredo praised his wife and others with Type 1 diabetes for dealing with the daily challenges of the condition.
"November is #NationalDiabetesAwarenessMonth so I want to give a special shoutout to my wife for being my rock and best friend, all while battling Type 1 Diabetes ❤️ To all the strong individuals fighting T1D 24/7/365, you are warriors. #T1D #Type1Diabetes," Alfredo wrote.
Type 1 Diabetes is a chronic autoimmune disease that affects about 2 million people in the US. The World Diabetes Day is also observed this week, on November 14.
Earlier this year, Alfredo also teamed up with Beyond Type 1, a diabetes nonprofit founded by Nick Jonas. The group hosted "Pit Stop For Health," at Atlanta Motor Speedway in September and provided free diabetes screenings, expert talks and fun activities for NASCAR fans.

Anthony Alfredo completed the 2024 Xfinity Series in 15th place with two top-5s and seven top-10 finishes.
Alfredo crashed with Stefan Parsons during the championship race at Phoenix last weekend which led to a penalty. He talked about it in an interview with Frontstretch and accepted NASCAR’s rules.
"No, I obviously didn’t mean for that to happen, and I’m really glad he didn’t hit harder, as it could have been much worse at that angle in the dogleg... Unfortunately, I got into his right rear, it wasn’t intentional... I’ll take the penalty because NASCAR has made a rule about that—whether it's intentional or not, you can’t hit a guy’s right rear. I have two months to figure out how I could have avoided it. I respect NASCAR for being straightforward and sticking with the rule," Anthony said. [0:25 onwards]
He further reflected on his strong season and the No. 5 team’s hard work.
"I hate that it cost us a good race tonight. It put us in a spot to run long and blow a tire, but we had an excellent season otherwise. I’m really proud of everyone’s effort, our sponsors, my team, and everyone behind me. We have a lot to be proud of this year," he added.
Alfredo also shared his plans for the next season and said that he would probably not return to Our Motorsports in 2025.
