“Pop pop is proud of you” - Richard Childress’ radio message to Austin Dillon revealed amid last gasp move on Joey Logano

Richard Childress' astonishing radio message to Austin Dillon came out in public as the RCR team owner urged Dillion to wreck Joey Logano for the race win. Childress, on the team radio, asked the #3 driver to win the race 'at any cost.'

Moments after the Overtime at Richmond, Logano and Dillion came side-by-side and raced to the Checkered Flag. However, with a superior pass, Logano sped past Dillion and advanced to have a car length between him and the latter.

Dillion, who led the latter half of the race, saw this and went on the inside of Logano. In doing so, he rammed Logano's Ford Mustang from behind and sent him spinning. This cleared up the track ahead for Dillion, who went on to claim the victory.

Amid this, Richard Childress' team radio was unraveled where he asked his grandson to go to any extent for the race win. As per Jeff Gluck:

"Austin Dillon's team radio had said "I don't care how you do it" before he hit Joey Logano and then "Wreck him! Wreck him!" before Denny Hamlin. "Pop Pop is proud of you," Richard Childress then said on the radio."

With the win, Austin Dillon secured a playoff spot for him this season. Despite being in 32nd place before the Cookout 400 race at Richmond Raceway, Dillion did the unthinkable as he denied Joey Logano from claiming his second win of 2024.

Following the conclusion of the Cookout 400 race at Richmond, Joey Logano has hit out at Austin Dillon. The furious Team Penske driver used expletives aplenty to describe the RCR driver and his actions on track.

"He just pulls a chicken sh*t meal, He’s a piece of crap. He sucks. He’s sucked his whole career,” said Logano. "And now, he's gonna be in the playoffs and good for him, I guess." (0:50)

Interestingly, Dillon also made contact with Denny Hamlin immediately after sending Logano to the barrier. However, the JGR driver did not crash heavily against the wall and made it to the finish line safely.
