"She knew not to give me too much responsibility": Tony Stewart spills 'truth' about wife Leah Pruett amid baby boy's arrival

Tony Stewart and wife Leah Pruett have welcomed their baby boy, Dominic James Stewart. Following the childbirth, Bob Pocrass of Fox Sports conversed with the three-time Cup Series champion and expressed his intrigue about the newborn's name. In response, Stewart narrated how they decided on the name and revealed the truth about Leah's hard-working nature.

The couple announced in December last year that they planned to start a family. As a result, Pruett took a break from NHRA Top Fuel racing and Stewart replaced his wife. Dominic was due for delivery this month and stamped November 17 as his date of birth.

While Stewart was busy with the hectic NHRA schedule, Leah took the onus of organizing things in the house to provide Dominic with the best possible comfort. The Stewart-Haas Racing co-owner revealed that he was sidelined from big tasks as his wife knew he shouldn't be given "too much responsibility," and was only tasked with searching for a suitable name.

"That was my only job," Stewart said about naming the kid. "She knew not to give me too much responsibility because she's the responsible one in the family. I was tasked with the job of creating a list of names that I liked and then handed over to her and then she whittled down what she liked out of what I liked."

Tony Stewart praised Leah for working her 'a**' off in building the baby room for Dominic while he was out there running the drag racing cars.

"She's worked her a** off for this child, for us as a family. She's done that, done all the hard work and in the meantime, I've been out racing and having fun doing what I love to do. But truth be told too, she loves to organize so she was happy I was happy...it was a win-win but she just has done so much. So, I'm really proud of her," he added (0:40).

Leah Pruett is unlikely to return to NHRA in 2025 and her husband is expected to continue Top Fuel racing.

"My wife is a very strong-willed woman": Tony Stewart heaps praise of Leah Pruett as his quest to escape fatherly duty fails

Tony Stewart's numerous motorsports achievements have made him a household name in the community. The same can be said for Pruett, courtesy of her NHRA prowess. The 36-year-old is a 2010 NHRA Hot Rod Heritage Racing Series champion and holds the 2018 NHRA Factory Stock Showdown title, among many other achievements.

That said, the community closely followed the couple for an update about the childbirth. This includes Bob Pockrass, who chatted with Stewart a few weeks back about the imminent fatherly duties.

While the NASCAR Hall of Famer is arguably among the most hard-working people, he said that changing Dominic's diapers wasn't his cup of tea. Furthermore, he revealed that he tried to escape the responsibility but Leah's strong will didn't let her husband's quest come to fruition.

Tony Stewart said (via Fox Sports).

"I'm trying to find every and any way I can to get out of having to change diapers. But my wife is a very strong-willed woman, and she has assured me that I am not, under any circumstances, getting out of these responsibilities as a father and a parent."

The news about Tony Stewart and Leah Pruett's baby boy was well-received by the fanbase, and a stream of reactions poured in.
