“Something I’ll never forget”: Zane Smith’s wife McCall pens an emotional reminiscent note ahead of Phoenix race

NASCAR driver Zane Smith's wife, McCall Smith, recently shared a heartfelt message on her social media ahead of NASCAR's return to Phoenix Raceway for the 2024 Championship weekend. She reminisced about a pivotal moment from Zane's NASCAR career.

Former Truck Series champion Zane Smith drives the #71 Chevrolet Camaro ZL1 for Spire Motorsports. The 25-year-old has achieved 13 victories across NASCAR's Truck and Xfinity Series. Before joining Spire, he had stints in the Cup Series, racing for Roush Fenway Keselowski Racing, Front Row Motorsports, and Rick Ware Racing.

Ahead of the championship race at Phoenix, Smith's wife McCall shared a warm note on her Instagram story, where she recalled the couple's visit to Phoenix in 2022 when Smith secured the Truck Series title. Sharing a post on her Instagram, from that day, McCall wrote:

"Going to Phoenix for the final race of the season will forever bring up so many awesome memories from this day 2 years ago. Standing there watching Zane celebrate as a champion was something I'll never forget."

Zane Smith proposed to McCall on April 30, 2022, timing the engagement during a NASCAR Craftsman Truck Series race weekend. After a year of planning, they got married in January 2024.

"Happy Valentine’s Day to my Husband 🤍.Celebrating our love is so easy. It’s a love that is so pure, one that I never knew I’d be lucky enough to have. Forever grateful for you and our love. Thank you for being the best Valentine today and forever. 🫶🏼"

Zane's Cup Series career took an unexpected hit after Spire announced Michael McDowell as his replacement in the #71 Chevrolet Camaro. Although the Spire Motorsports driver was left without a seat in the 2024 season, he has been rumored to join Front Row Motorsports.

NASCAR insider Bob Pockrass reveals Zane Smith as top candidate to join Front Row Motorsports amid charter controversy

Earlier this year, Spire Motorsports announced FRM's #34 driver Michael McDowell as Zane Smith's replacement in the 2025 Cup Series campaign. The former Truck Series champion's Cup career was been clouded with doubt.

However, Fox Sports journalist Bob Pockrass believed that Smith might be the top candidate for running FRM's possible third charter, which they will reportedly acquire from Stewart Haas, who await their imminent exit from the sport.

In an article on Fox Sports from the last week of September, Pockrass discussed NASCAR's transfer news. He wrote:

"Zane Smith has been a top candidate for this ride, and after a couple of months of a roller coaster on whether he would or would not get it, he most recently has emerged again as the favorite."

Meanwhile, 23XI Racing and FRM have joined hands and filed an antitrust lawsuit against NASCAR and CEO Jim France. The decision to come into a legal battle with the organization might prove to be counterproductive for both 23XI and FRM's plan to add a third charter to their 2025 lineup.
