"We're pushing for it" - John Force's daughter reveals encouraging health update on NHRA icon, teases his potential return
Brittany Force, daughter of NHRA drag racing legend John Force, provided an update on her father's recovery from a brain injury he suffered in a crash back in June. The two-time NHRA Drag Racing Series Top Fuel dragster champion said she, along with the Force family, are pushing for her Force's return to racing.
Force has made great strides in his recovery since his fiery crash at the Virginia Motorsports Park a few months ago. His daughter said the family is proud of the racing icon as he's doing outpatient therapy at home.
In a recent press conference, Brittany said the ulimate goal would be to have her dad back at the Ford Performance NHRA Nationals at Las Vegas next weekend and close out the season the next week at the Ponoma Dragstrip, which isn't far from their home in California.
However, Brittany said the decision rests upon the elder Force, saying:
"He might be coming to Vegas just to be with our teams and get back into his old routine of things, being out there with all our teams, being out at a racetrack, doing what he loves, being where he loves. Then, hopefully end the season in Ponoma, which is right down the street from us. That's our hometown, our home track, so we'd love to do that, but again, that's up to him. Not my decision. We're just pushing for it if he's ready and he wants to."
Brittany went on to say that watching her dad, 75, recover from the crash has been one of the biggest lessons learned, and not because of anything he said to her, but rather because of his toughness and resilience through the trying times. She added:
"To see where he was when I walked into the hospital that day to where he is now, he is incredibly strong. One of the toughest people I know. His drive to never give up is something incredible."
Force is regarded as one of the best drag racers of all-time as he's won 16 NHRA titles as a driver, one AHRA Funny Car title, and 22 championships as a car owner over the span of his 34-year career.
John Force once appeared on the Dale Jr. Download hosted by Dale Earnhardt Jr.
John Force isn't a stranger to the NASCAR world and made a special guest appearance on the Dale Jr. Download back in 2019. The show, hosted by retired NASCAR legend Dale Earnhardt Jr., was two hours and nine minutes long and is available to listen to on Spotify.
Dirty Mo Media promoted the episode with a four-minute highlight clip posted to their X account. They wrote:
"This Dirty Mo Media video has been rated R - not suitable for all audiences - because well, it's John Force."
In the episode, Force talks about his NHRA journey, his relationship with Earnhardt Jr.'s late father, Dale Earnhardt, his love for music icon Elvis Presley, and the stars of drag racing today.
