Ranking the 5 worst drivers in the 2024 NASCAR Truck Series by points
The 2024 NASCAR Craftsman Truck Series season concluded with Ty Majeski winning it all at Phoenix Raceway. Piloting the No. 98 Ford F-150 for ThorSport Racing, Majeski punched his ticket to the Championship 4 from the Round of 10 only on points.
The Ford driver competed against other finalists including Corey Heim, Christian Eckes, and Grant Enfinger. Heim finished 3.945 seconds behind him, with Eckes ending the season with a P3 finish.
On the other hand, the season witnessed NASCAR drivers who failed to score good points to climb the Truck Series standings. Who are these drivers? Here is the list of the five worst drivers in this year’s Truck Series by points.
With several drivers competing in the series, the list only contains names who entered all 23 races in the 2024 season.
#5 Jake Garcia (459 points)
The first driver on the list is young NASCAR driver Jake Garcia. For the 2024 season, Garcia scored 459 points in a full-time drive with ThorSport Racing. His best finish was at Charlotte Motor Speedway with a P6 finish followed by a P10 finish at Nashville Speedway two race weekends later.
This year was only the Georgia native’s third season in the stock pickup truck racing series, second as a full-time driver. His debut season was with McAnallay-Higemann Racing last year.
#4 Bayley Currey (392 points)
Competing for Niece Motorsports in the No. 41 Chevrolet Silverado, Bayley Currey ended his first full-time Truck Series season with 392 points. He only had one top-10 finish with a P8, which was secured in the final race of the regular season at Kansas Speedway.
Before his first full Truck Series schedule, Currey ran multiple races in the Cup Series and Xfinity Series, including a full-time drive with JD Motorsports in the latter series in 2022.
#3 Matt Mills (328 points)
Fellow Niece Motorsports teammate Matt Mills only scored 328 in this year’s NASCAR Truck Series season. His best finish came at Charlotte Motor Speedway, coming home in fourth. The No. 42 Chevy driver also had another top-10 finish earned at Nashville Superspeedway two races later.
Mills made headlines after crashing at the Homestead-Miami Speedway race following contact with Conner Jones. Mills was hospitalized but returned to the field without missing a race. Meanwhile, Jones was suspended for one race.
#2 Lawless Alan (306 points)
Second on the list is Lawless Alan who scored 306 points in the 2024 season. The 24-year-old driver piloted the No. 33 Reaume Brothers Ford to one top-5/top-10 finish earned at Talladega Superspeedway. He finished in P5 after starting from P16 and walked away with 43 points.
Alan also competed part-time in the NASCAR Xfinity Series with AM Racing where he drove the No. 15 Ford Mustang.
#1 Spencer Boyd (267 points)
For his sixth full-time season in the NASCAR Craftsman Truck Series, Spencer Boyd scored 267 points, 25th on the overall standings. The No. 76 Chevy driver only had one top-5 finish coming at the opening race at Daytona where he earned 32 points. He also had another top-10 finish at Talladega Superspeedway.
Boyd will return to Freedom Racing Enterprises next year with Japanese transport company Tohatsu as a title sponsor.
