2024 NFL Draft: Best Remaining players available for Day 3

The 2024 NFL draft started phenomenally, with the first 14 picks all being offensive players. On the second day of the draft, teams traded up and down to get the best player based on their positional value and addressed the positions they needed most on their rosters.

However, there are still some teams that have not found the player they need and will be looking forward to Day 3. The Dallas Cowboys are yet to draft a running back, and all eyes will be on them tomorrow, as many of their fans are upset with how the franchise has done business in free agency as well as in the draft so far.

Here's a closer look at the best players still available for teams to draft on Day 3 in Detroit.

2024 NFL Draft: Best remaining players available on Day 3

#1. Troy Franklin, WR - Oregon

Many are surprised that Oregon's Troy Franklin has slipped to the third day of the draft. The 6-foot-2 wide receiver had 81 receptions for 1,383 yards and 14 touchdowns during his final year at Oregon.

He ran a 4.41-second 40-yard dash at the NFL Combine, and multiple teams kept an eye on him. The Carolina Panthers have the first pick on Day 3, and they could be a potential suitor for Franklin. Moreover, the Buffalo Bills, who have already drafted Keon Coleman, could also look to trade up to get the Oregon product.

#2. T.J. Tampa, CB - Iowa State

T.J. Tampa is arguably the best available cornerback on Day 3 of this year's draft. The 6-foot-1 player from Iowa State recorded two interceptions and seven pass deflections in 12 games during his final year in college.

Tampa, despite his size, has excellent movement and could see his name called up quite early tomorrow. Teams like the Green Bay Packers and Kansas City Chiefs could trade up to get him as he fits perfectly on their rosters.

#3. Ja'Tavion Sanders, TE - Texas

Ja'Tavion Sanders is another player who could potentially get drafted quite early tomorrow. The Texas product is considered to be the best available tight end, and teams like the Tennessee Titans and Cincinnati Bengals could make a move for him. He had 45 receptions for 682 yards and two touchdowns during his last year at Texas.

#4. Spencer Rattler, QB - South Carolina

After six quarterbacks got selected within the first 12 picks of this year's draft, no other quarterback has been picked since then. Spencer Rattler, who was considered to be the consensus seventh-best quarterback in this year's draft, could be a target for multiple teams tomorrow.

The Las Vegas Raiders look like a potential destination for him, but it wouldn't be a surprise if both the New York teams also make a run toward him. After a disappointing end to his career in Oklahoma, Rattler bounced back with the South Carolina Gamecocks and threw for 3,186 yards, 19 touchdowns and eight interceptions in 12 games last year.

#5. Cedric Gray, LB - North Carolina

With Payton Wilson getting drafted late in the third round, Cedric Gray is viewed as the best available linebacker on Day 3 of the 2024 NFL draft.

The North Carolina product led the Power 5 in tackles over the last two seasons and is a player who is likely to get drafted early in the fourth round. During his last year in college, Gray had 5.0 sacks and recorded an interception along with five pass deflections.
