3 NFL superstars no team wants to sign in 2023 ft. Cam Newton

Most NFL teams are often extremely interested in adding superstar players to their rosters. Their impact on the football field can immediately make just about any team better, while also providing experience and leadership off the field as well.

Teams who want to be contenders for a particular NFL season can add a superstar to get them that much closer to a Super Bowl. Other teams that may be in a rebuilding process could look to add a superstar player as one of the building blocks on their roster.

While adding superstar talent is often the goal of many teams during each NFL offseason, not all of them attract the same level of interest from potential landing spots. Their declining market can sometimes be credited with being past their prime, demanding too much money, or off-the-field issues, among other factors.

The 2023 NFL offseason features several superstar players that are struggling to find a new home team for one reason or another, including these three.

#1 - Antonio Brown

It's unclear if Antonio Brown has any desire to make a return to the NFL after choosing to step away from pursuing football during the 2022 season. Even if he does want to play for the upcoming 2023 season, he will likely have a hard time finding a team that will offer him a contract.

Brown last played during the 2021 season with the Tampa Bay Buccaneers when he stormed off the field during a game and was released shortly after. This added to his list of teams with ugly exits, including the Las Vegas Raiders and Pittsburgh Steelers.

He has also been involved in plenty of controversies off the field. He's a superstar talent with more risks than just about any other player.

#2 - Cam Newton

Cam Newton hasn't played a snap in the NFL since the 2021 season with the Carolina Panthers. He also hasn't been a full-time starter since the 2020 season with the New England Patriots.

His lack of recent playing time and poor production on the field paired with his relatively old age have made teams reluctant to give him another opportunity.

Newton recently announced that he's willing to take a job as a backup quarterback, so it's possible that a team will now pursue him during the 2023 NFL offseason. He can still be a weapon in the right situation, including being used as a rusher, where he continues to have success in the latter part of his career.

Cam Newton has recorded 822 rushing yards with 17 touchdowns across his last 20 starts.

#3 - Julio Jones

Julio Jones was once one of the most dominant wide receivers in the NFL with the Atlanta Falcons. Among his many accomplishments, he once exceeded 1,350 yards in six consecutive seasons. He has unfortunately been unable to stay healthy since the impressive streak ended.

Jones has played for three different teams in the last three years and has failed to appear in more than 10 games in any of the three seasons. His massive injury concerns on the back part of his career are likely why no team has signed him yet during the 2023 offseason. It's a major risk at this point to commit a contract to him at this point.
