5 biggest weaknesses Packers have to address in 2024 training camp

The Green Bay Packers surprised the NFL with an excellent run in 2023. The team moved three gears up in the second half of the season and not only qualified for the playoffs, but created a massive upset over the Dallas Cowboys in the Wild Card Round.

The year ended in bittersweet fashion against the San Francisco 49ers, but while progression is expected for Jordan Love and the young guys, they can't play around and act like the team is ready. There are still holes to fix.

Here are five concerns regarding the team ahead of the 2024 season.

5 weaknesses the Green Bay Packers need to address ahead of 2024 season

#1. Backup quarterback

As Jordan Love holds out from training camp waiting to sign a new deal, the team has had to practice with their other quarterbacks, and to put it mildly, it has not gone well. This is a genuine concern: if Love goes down for the year, the Packers' season will be over. They need to find a QB2 during the next few weeks.

#2. Dominant WR1

As Jayden Reed, Dontayvion Wicks and Romeu Doubs progressed this season, Christian Watson struggled with injuries. All four have their qualities, but it's nothing when compared to the days of Davante Adams dominating the defenses. They need someone to step up and become the leader of the group.

#3. iDL depth

The EDGE group is fine, with Preston Smith and Rashan Gary as consolidated stars and Lukas Van Ness with raw quality. But Kenny Clark and Devonte Wyatt don't have a good enough replacement in case any of them go down. The position also needs to be looked at.

#4. Stronger tackle play

The Packers found some gems in the offensive line, but apart from the fact that they're solid players, the group is still a bit thin. Elgton Jenkins is the only real star of the offensive line and, when facing stronger pass rushers, such as the 49ers' or the Eagles' groups, this could become a problem.

#5. Linebacker depth

Quay Walker had his problems as a rookie, but he improved last year. The problem is that he can't play alone, and Edgerrin Cooper will still take a while to develop into a good player, while Isaiah McDuffie certainly isn't the answer to anything. This is yet another concern for the defense.
