5 NFL QBs primed to have a better 2024 than Jalen Hurts feat. CJ Stroud

Jalen Hurts has led the NFC to the Super Bowl in his career. However, the Eagles quarterback is also coming off losing 5 of the last 6 games in 2023 and if that continues this season, it won't be hard to find quarterbacks to rank over him.

With the team reloading at running back with Saquon Barkley and an offseason to tweak their strategy, a slight rebound appears to be in the cards. As such, here are five quarterbacks on pace for better seasons than Jalen Hurts in 2024.

#1 - Patrick Mahomes

It doesn't matter which quarterback is stacked against Patrick Mahomes. At this point, the Chiefs quarterback is the leader in the NFL until he is not. Despite coming off a down statistical year, the franchise managed to win it all on the road through the playoffs last year. As such, even if the regular season slump continues, Mahomes cannot be written off.

#2 - Lamar Jackson

Lamar Jackson has only added firepower to his offense this offseason in the form of Derrick Henry. Jackson, the longest-lasting run-first quarterback in the NFL, is set for another prime season. With Henry in tow, defenses cannot key in on one player this year, opening things up even more for Jackson.

Plus, the hunger is there with the team angry about missing the Super Bowl by one game. Jalen Hurts might have a good season, but Jackson is primed for a run at another MVP.

#3 - Matthew Stafford

Stafford has had one Megatron in his career. Now, he might have two. Both Cooper Kupp and Puka Nacua have had a 1400-yard season since 2021. With Nacua entering only his second season, he might be good enough to make a run at 2000 yards this season.

Kupp, no slouch either, also has a shot at getting well over 1000 yards. As such, the targets might not be bigger than they will be this season. Put simply, Stafford has plenty of tools to stack against Jalen Hurts.

#4 - Dak Prescott

This might be a controversial choice, but Dak Prescott had a better season than Jalen Hurts last year. Entering a potential prove-it year, Prescott has all of the incentive in the world to make a push to lead the league in touchdown passes once again. CeeDee Lamb, despite his offseason holdout, isn't going anywhere.

#5 - CJ Stroud

The Houston Texans quarterback shocked the NFL in his rookie year, getting deeper in the playoffs than seemingly 75% of starters have accomplished in their careers.

With another year of work under his belt and the addition of Stefon Diggs and Joe Mixon, he is primed to potentially have a better season than anyone, even former Super Bowl contestant Jalen Hurts.
