5 NFL teams built to clinch the AFC in 2024 season ft. Kansas City Chiefs
The AFC is likely going to be the hardest conference in the NFL once again. With many quality teams and many established franchise quarterbacks, winning the conference is going to be a tough mission once again.
Although there's a clear favorite due to its recent status, the road to the Super Bowl is going to be an intense one. If you can survive the grueling rounds of the AFC playoffs, then you're more than capable of winning the big game.
Check out five teams who can fight for the conference in 2024:
5 teams who are built to win the AFC in 2024
#1. Kansas City Chiefs
How could it be any different? The Kansas City Chiefs have won the conference four times in the past five seasons and also won three rings in those years. The Chiefs are built for playoff football: elite quarterback, strong defense and excellent coaches.
As long as you have Patrick Mahomes on the roster, other teams will have to respect you. The Chiefs have all the elements and they've done it. No other team will be at No. 1 unless they dethrone the Chiefs.
#2. Cleveland Browns
It might not look sexy, but the Cleveland Browns quietly assembled the best roster in the AFC North and one of the best in the NFL.
They already have an elite defense: there's a good chance they'll be the ones fighting the Chiefs if Deshaun Watson can play consistently. He doesn't even have to be the same superstar as he was in Houston: all he has to do is execute the offense.
#3. Baltimore Ravens
With Lamar Jackson on the roster and a strong defense, you'll always have a chance. However, fans have learned not to trust the Baltimore Ravens on the big stage just as we've learned with Buffalo in recent years.
Mike Macdonald left the team and they're probably going to miss him, at least in the first weeks of the season. Their roster isn't better than last year, but all it takes is one good afternoon and you can pose a threat to the Chiefs.
#4. New York Jets
The combination of Aaron Rodgers and a strong defense was supposed to work in 2023. It didn't happen, as the quarterback got hurt after just four snaps, but the blueprint for success in 2024 remains the same.
The New York Jets made a good investment in their offensive line to better protect Rodgers and not allow the same fate to reach them again. New York is a good team - they need to prove it on the field, though.
#5. Houston Texans
The Houston Texans are on the rise with C.J. Stroud quickly developing into a superstar and the rest of the roster more than loaded. They assembled excellent defensive pieces through the draft, and Nico Collins emerged at a great level in 2023.
They knew that 2024 was already a year where they'd be competing for bigger prizes, and loading up the offense with Stefon Diggs was a master move. The Texans can't be slept on in the AFC.
