5 teams with the best odds of making NFL playoffs ft. Dallas Cowboys

Most teams enter each season hoping to make it to the NFL playoffs. Eight division winners and six additional wild card teams make it to the NFL playoffs at the end of each season, making up nearly half the league. This allows just about every team to compete when a new season kicks off.

Seven weeks into the 2022 NFL season, some teams have met expectations, while others have disappointed. Before the start of the year, teams such as the Tampa Bay Buccaneers, the Green Bay Packers, and the defending Super Bowl champions, the Los Angeles Rams, had some of the best odds of making it to the NFL playoffs.

Not only are those three teams outside of the top five for the best odds of making it to the NFL playoffs, but they are all in danger of completely missing out on the postseason. According to the oddsmakers at FanDuel Sportsbook, the following five teams are considered the most likely to make it to the 2022 NFL playoffs.

#5 - Dallas Cowboys (-900)

The Dallas Cowboys are off to a solid 5-2 start to the 2022 NFL season. This is particularly impressive, considering Dak Prescott has only appeared in two games this year. They have won games with a solid rushing attack and a dominant defense.

Micah Parsons is among the early candidates to win the Defensive Player of the Year award. He has helped the Cowboys lead the NFL in total team sacks. While the offense has struggled so far, Prescott's return should provide a significant boost. He helped the Cowboys record the highest total yards and points during the 2021 NFL season.

#4 - Minnesota Vikings (-950)

Many around the NFL believed the Minnesota Vikings could challenge the Green Bay Packers for the NFC Borth division crown before the start of the season. Not only have the Vikings lived up to those high expectations, but they are starting to run away with the lead following Week 7.

While the Vikings have recorded an impressive 5-1 record so far, the Packers sit at a disappointing 3-4. Neither the Detroit Lions nor Chicago Bears appear to be much of a threat for the division title, so the Vikings hold commanding control of their path to the NFL playoffs. They also defeated the Packers in Week 1, further increasing their chances.

#3 - Philadelphia Eagles (-2200)

The Philadelphia Eagles are the only undefeated team entering Week 8 of the 2022 NFL season with a 6-0 record. While this status may suggest they should be the biggest favorites to make the NFL playoffs, the surprisingly competitive NFC East division may be why they aren't. The Cowboys have a 5-2 record, while the New York Giants have impressed to 6-1 so far.

The Eagles have been one of the best rushing teams in the NFL over the last few years, anchored by quarterback Jalen Hurts, one of the most mobile quarterbacks in the league. The Eagles made the NFL playoffs last year and significantly upgraded during the offseason when they traded for superstar wide receiver AJ Brown.

#2 - Kansas City Chiefs (-3000)

It should be no surprise that the Kansas City Chiefs are one of the biggest favorites to make it to the 2022 NFL playoffs. They have made it to the AFC Championship game or better in all four seasons since Patrick Mahomes took over as the starting quarterback. They also appeared in two Super Bowls and won a ring during that time.

The Chiefs have been as dominant as usual this season, despite trading away Tyreek Hill during the 2022 offseason. It doesn't appear to have affected them much, as they are still one of the top offenses in the league, while Mahomes is among the favorites to win the NFL MVP award again.

#1 - Buffalo Bills (-10,000)

The Buffalo Bills entered the 2022 NFL season as the favorites to win the Super Bowl. Quarterback Josh Allen was also the preseason favorite to be named the NFL MVP this season. Nothing has changed so far, as the Bills look like the best team in the NFL, with the best overall player in Josh Allen.

The team also features one of the best defenses in the NFL. They have ranked in the top three in total yards allowed in three of the last four seasons and are on pace to do so again this year.

Despite a competitive AFC East division with four teams competing for the NFL playoffs, the Bills are still the biggest favorites in the entire league to get there this year.
