Aaron Rodgers’ four days of darkness gives Raiders four more days to steer clear of former NFL MVP
The Las Vegas Raiders are one of the many teams this off-season that will look for a new starting quarterback in 2023.
The team cut former nine-year starter Derek Carr on February 14th, after they announced they would move on from him once the season ended.
The team will be in its second year with Josh McDaniels as their head coach, and he will have a tough task in finding Carr's replacement.
One possible candidate to replace Carr is Green Bay Packers quarterback Aaron Rodgers. The Packers quarterback is expected to be traded from the team as they're ready to move on from as their quarterback.
Rodgers is reportedly on his "darkness" retreat, where he is expected to make a decision about his NFL future soon after.
While the Raiders look for a new franchise quarterback, Rodgers' four-day retreat gives them a little more time to avoid him.
Rodgers is owed $31 million by the Packers this season, but he remains uncommitted to playing football.
He may retire after his retreat, but he is expected to return and request a trade out of Green Bay.
Who could the Las Vegas Raiders target to be their next franchise QB?
While the Raiders should avoid acquiring Rodgers, they could target many other quarterbacks this off-season.
The Raiders currently hold the number seven overall pick in the 2023 NFL draft. While they are a top-10 team with a higher pick, they may not have one of their top quarterback prospects in this draft.
There are several teams in the top 10 (Chicago Bears, Houston Texans, Indianapolis Colts, and others) that could take a quarterback, and at pick No. 7, some teams may try to trade up and select a top QB before the Raiders.
C.J.Stroud hinted that he'd like to play with Davante Adams and the Raiders.
They could target veterans in free agency such as Jimmy Garoppolo, who has played under McDaniels before.
They could inquire about Lamar Jackson, who could be traded out of Baltimore this season.
There are many options that the Raiders can go at QB, and we'll find out in time who their next franchise QB will be.
