Archie Manning hopes grandson Arch Manning suits up for Cowboys
Arch Manning is already looking like a solid NFL prospect, taking people by surprise when he had the chance to be under center for the Texas Longhorns. He's now established as a star in college and plenty of fans and teams are taking note of that.
His grandfather, the patriarch of the Manning family, Archie, revealed his thoughts about where he'd like to see Arch play once he arrives in the NFL. A short video shared on Friday shows Archie expressing his desire to see his grandson representing the Dallas Cowboys.
"I hope he'll play three years in Texas. Hope he plays 3-4 years. Right off the bat, if somebody asked me, I'd say Cowboys," Manning said.
Arch is already shining in Texas, making a terrific impression with the Longhorns. He comes from a family with a quarterback pedigree, with his grandfather becoming a legend for the New Orleans Saints, while his uncles Peyton and Eli Manning are among the best play-callers the NFL has ever seen.
It's unclear how longer Arch Manning plans to stay in Austin to defend the Longhorns colors, but he's already considered a top pick in the 2026 NFL Draft, the first one when he'll become eligible to enter the league. If Quinn Ewers decides to leave for the NFL, Manning would become the starter and he's already shown glimpses of his brilliance.
The Cowboys are having a terrible 2024 season, which could be the end of Dak Prescott as their starting quarterback.
Arch Manning, Texas Longhorns are in the race for the SEC title
While the rest of the world is already discussing his future, Arch Manning is focused on helping the No. 2 Longhorns beat the No. 5 Georgia Bulldogs in the race for the SEC title. After spending time learning under Quinn Ewers, he had the chance to showcase his talents earlier this season, filling in for the third-year starter when he missed a couple of games due to injury.
Arch has held his ground, passing for 939 yards and nine touchdowns during the season while finding the end zone rushing the ball four times. The season is coming to an end and Manning and Co. are trying to win hardware and pave the way for his domination when he becomes the team's starting quarterback.
Seeing Manning play only one season with the Longhorns doesn't seem like a likely scenario right now, but a lot can change before 2026.
