Breece Hall injury update: Latest on Jets RB's status for Week 14 Fantasy FootballÂ
When the 2024 NFL season began, many assumed that Breece Hall and the Jets would be making a run for the playoffs in Week 14. The running back was a phenomenal asset in the offensive backfield, they had a future Hall-of-Fame quarterback on their roster, and their defense was among the best in the league.
Instead, New York enters this week with a 3-9 record. While they are not theoretically out of postseason contention yet, it is safe to say that they will not be playing after the regular season. Much of that is down to Aaron Rodgers' performances throughout the season which have left much to be desired. But as is the case with most losing franchises, Breece Hall and others have not covered themselves in glory either.
Here's a closer look at whether the running back should be on fantasy football managers' radars this week and going forward.
Breece Hall's Week 14 injury update
Breece Hall has resurrected his career after a brutal ACL injury. However, in yet another Jets' defeat against the Seahawks last week, he seems to have picked up another knee injury, which will be concerning for his prospects this season and going forward.
He was on the injury report throughout the week and did not practice even once. He has been listed as doubtful for the game. If something was riding on this match for the Jets, one could have expected him to play through the pain. However, as discussed earlier, New York is not expected to make it to the playoffs and it probably looks unlikely that the running back will be risked in their upcoming game against the Dolphins.
Given these circumstances, fantasy football managers drop him and look for other options around the league. Assuming Breece Hall does not play, Braelon Allen is expected to be the top running back against Miami.
How has Breece Hall performed this season?
Breece Hall has 692 yards in 2024 on 164 carries at 4.2 yards per attempt. He has just four touchdowns for a Jets team that has struggled to put points on board throughout the year.
He had a season-low nine carries against the Vikings when he picked up just 23 yards. In every other game, the running back has had more than 10 carries. His best performance came against the Bills, where he picked up 118 yards on 18 attempts. That was the only time when he reached three figures for rushing yardage. His output against the Broncos was a personal nadir for Breece Hall as he had four yards on the ground in 10 touches of the ball.
However, the Jets' offensive rusher has not been as bad as some other players on his team. He has had a consistent output, getting more than 50 yards per match in the last five weeks. The rest of their unit has not been able to leverage that to score points, though, which has been New York's problem throughout the year.
Given his past injury history and the fact that the Jets do not have much to play for in their remaining games, it will not be a surprise if we have already seen the last of Breece Hall in 2024. It will allow him time to fully recover and also allow the franchise to evaluate their depth in the running back position behind him.
Even if he returns and plays through the pain, he might not be as productive as he has been throughout the rest of the season, which itself has been average. Therefore, fantasy football managers should probably look elsewhere for a running back in 2024.
