Cedric Tillman Waiver Wire Fantasy Outlook Week 8: Where does Browns WR rank among priority adds?

The Cleveland Browns are bang in the middle of a crisis. Between Deshaun Watson's season-ending Achilles injury, backup quarterback Dorian Thompson-Robinson picking up an injury and having to trade Amari Cooper away (and possibly Za'Darius Smith in the near future), the Browns have little sense of direction.

One bright spot amidst all this trouble has been wide receiver Cedric Tillman, who burst onto the fantasy scene in the Week 7 loss to the Cincinnati Bengals. With the shape of this Browns offense set to change dramatically, here's everything you need to know about Tillman's potential as a waiver wire pickup for Week 8.

Cedric Tillman waiver wire fantasy outlook for Week 8

Yes, we know this Browns offense has been bordering on a dumpster fire for the longest time, as evident by their 1-6 record. The only ray of optimism here is that once you hit rock bottom, there's nowhere to go but up.

In last year's draft, Cedric Tillman was a top-75 pick and with good reason. At 6’3 and 213 pounds, the young Browns receiver has the size to haul in some targets on a consistent level. Amari Cooper's trade to the Bills has also freed up some targets, which should benefit both Tillman and tight end David Njoku.

In Week 7 against Cincinnati, Tillman hauled in eight of his 12 targets for 81 yards. Those 12 targets were the third-most in the league this week. We know those aren't sustainable numbers but someone is going to have to step in and fill the Amari Cooper-shaped void in this offense.

Regardless of if it is Dorian Thompson-Robinson or Jameis Winston under center, Tillman's Week 7 output should be encouraging enough for the QB to target him on a consistent basis.

Now we don't suggest adding Tillman and directly putting him in your starting lineup especially given they will face the Baltimore Ravens next, but it's worth a shot to stash him in a deeper league.
