Christian Watson fantasy outlook 2024: Points projection, stats, and ADP for Packers WR
Christian Watson is a tantalizing fantasy football option. The Green Bay Packers wide receiver has a lot of talent, but also a lot of injury concerns. That doesn't always bode well for fantasy football, as evidenced by his nine total games played in 2023. That said, here's his 2024 outlook.
Christian Watson's fantasy outlook for 2024
Christian Watson finished as the 166th overall player in fantasy last year. He saw limited time on the field in 2023 because of hamstring issues that had troubled him since the preseason. He still performed pretty well when he was healthy enough to participate.
The WR recorded 28 catches for 422 yards and five touchdowns, on 53 attempted targets. Over a full season, that performance could translate to over 750 yards and eight touchdowns. Plus, in a full year, he would likely get more than 53 targets.
Watson certainly isn't in the upper tier of fantasy wide receivers, but he could be a very good option. He's as talented as they come when he's on the field, and he's done a lot of work to avoid future hamstring injuries.
This might be the year he is finally healthy since he's devoted so much time and effort to learning about and preventing injuries. Other things can happen, but he's poised to finally break out and play a full slate and has the potential to score significant fantasy points.
As the top wide receiver in a solid passing offense, Watson should be on the drafting radar. Depending on where he falls in a fantasy draft, he could bring a lot of value as a WR2 or even WR3 on your roster.
Is Christian Watson a good pick in fantasy football this year?
Christian Watson is a good pick in fantasy football, with a potential caveat. Obviously, there are major health concerns. He has yet to really break out because of continued hamstring issues.
However, statistically, he is the best receiver on the Packers roster. He'll be Jordan Love's top target when he's on the field. Love, who is now one of the highest-paid NFL players ever, is a player who fantasy owners can trust to get their receivers points.
The passing offense should be prolific, especially with Aaron Jones no longer in town. Matt LaFleur should take the training wheels all the way off, and no one stands to benefit more from that than Watson.
Provided he's healthy, he could be a top fantasy wideout this year. That's a huge disclaimer, but it might be worth the risk depending on where he falls in fantasy drafts.
Where should you draft Christian Watson?
Christian Watson's current average draft position (ADP) is 98th across all fantasy sites. He's also seen as low as 101 overall, but he's generally being selected in the 10th or 11th round.
This is where he should be targeted. Anything higher might be a reach, and anything lower could well be a steal. Ultimately, data is currently inconclusive, since it's still very early in the fantasy process.
In this range, fantasy drafters might be tempted to look at someone like Adam Thielen. He had a terrific year in 2023 with the Carolina Panthers. However, Sportskeeda's fantasy analyzer indicates that Watson would be the better pick.
Watson has a high upside with a lot of risk. For that reason, it's important not to draft him too early. Our 2024 fantasy football WR rankings have Watson pegged as WR49 this season.
