“Could have chosen to do drugs” – Gisele Bundchen gets honest about surviving panic attacks in fashion

Gisele Bundchen's life has been different in recent times after her public divorce from Tom Brady. She starred on the cover of the most recent version of Vanity Fair and got candid about her life as a supermodel.

Her interview with Michelle Ruiz from Vanity Fair was a long one.

"She alludes to the underbelly of the industry: “The things I’ve seen and the situations I’ve escaped from just because I have faith…”

Bündchen recalled the dehumanizing treatment she suffered at the hands of fashion’s inflated egos (although she doesn’t name names).

She also alluded to what helped her get through her early 20s as she tried to make a name for herself in the industry.

“My natural instinct was, ‘I’m not going to be a victim of this. I’m not going to sit here and be like, ‘Why are they treating me like this? Why are they leaving me standing here naked for, like, eight hours without offering me water or food? Why are they being so mean?'"
“I could have chosen to do drugs. I could have chosen to party. I could have chosen to allow the vampires that are out there to suck life out of me and use me.”

Why did Gisele Bundchen and Tom Brady get divorced?

It was reported that Brady's decision to return to the NFL in 2022 after initially retiring from the league further strained the relationship between the two. According to a source who spoke to PEOPLE, Bundchen "was so excited when he declared his retirement, and she wasn't thrilled at all when he went back on that."

Bundchen wanted him to spend more time at home and end his career for good. After Brady won his first Super Bowl with the Tampa Bay Buccaneers, the former quarterback revealed that Bundchen asked him what else he had to prove. 2022 was the first time Brady missed most of the offseason due to 'personal reasons'.
