Did Anthony Richardson do enough in college to go number one overall?

Every year, around the time of the NFL Combine, a certain player or a few get extremely hyped up. Richardson was expected to be a mid-round pick towards the end of the college season, but scouts, analysts, and teams have hyped him up once his college career ended.

Taking a look at his stats and numbers, you wouldn't think Richardson would be pegged to go number on overall.

He only started 13 career college games and had a losing record of 6-7 in 2022.

The Florida-born also completed only 54.7 per cent of the passes in his college career. He threw for 24 touchdowns, 15 interceptions, and 3,105 yards in three seasons.

Comparing that to the careers of Bryce Young and C.J. Stroud, Richardson looks undeserving.

Young won a Heisman while leading Alabama Crimson Tide to a 23-4 record in his two seasons as a starter. He threw for 8,356 yards and has won multiple college awards.

Stroud compiled a 21-4 record at Ohio State Buckeyes. He threw for 81 touchdowns with just 12 interceptions as a two-year starter.

As we get closer to the draft, we'll get a better understanding of who's expected to go number one.
