Damar Hamlin latest update: Bills star to finally go home after over two weeks

Buffalo Bills safety Damar Hamlin has made his way back home to Buffalo, following almost a week at the University of Cincinnati Medical Center. Hamlin had gone into cardiac arrest during the Week 17 game versus the Bengals.

Dr William A. Knight informed reporters that he went with Hamlin to the airport. Dr Knight noted that the safety was "doing well." He commented that Hamlin is at the "beginning of the next stage of his recovery," with the medical team at Buffalo General Medical Center.

"We shared last time that we were with you that our ultimate goal was to get Damar back home to his amazing family and broader Buffalo family. Well, Dr. [Timothy] Pritts and I are thrilled and proud on behalf of UC to report to you that Damar Hamlin has been released and returned back to Buffalo."
Not home quite just yet🏡🫶🏾. Still doing & passing a bunch of test. Special thank-you to Buffalo General it’s been nothing but love since arrival! Keep me in y’all prayers please! #3strong

Dr Knight added:

"He landed safely and is as standard as anybody who has gone through what he’s gone through this last week and certainly after flying on a plane. He is going to be observed and monitored to ensure that there is no impact of the flight on his condition or on his lungs."

Doctors further stated that Damar Hamlin will continue to go through testing to find out the cause of his injury and "to treat any pathology that may be found." Dr Knight also spoke on Hamlin's potential return to playing football.

"He still has a little bit of a way to go in terms of his ongoing recovery."

When it comes to football, his Bills teammates came through for him in their final regular-season game.
