Demario Douglas fantasy outlook: Should you draft Patriots WR in 2024?

Demario Douglas is a relatively unknown name in the national NFL zeitgeist. However, those are the names that can win fantasy championships. As a result, evaluating the wide receiver's fantasy value could pay well. Even if they do not make a manager's roster this season, their decision may be influenced the following year.

Here's a detailed look at the Patriots wide receiver.

At face value, Douglas could be a top-two receiver for the New England Patriots this season. However, that fact alone doesn't mean he's draftable. At this point, drafting Douglas would be a massive risk and there are more sure investments that should be available ahead of him.

According to Sportskeeda's Fantasy Football Simulator, Douglas will have a decent outing in one area but will be completely absent in another. According to the Simulator, he will earn roughly 820 yards but won't score a single touchdown this year.

This could be due to the team's makeup at quarterback with Jacoby Brissett and rookie Drake Maye. That said, regardless of the reason, a world without touchdowns is a painful one in fantasy football.

His production is due for a slight step up from 2023. Last year, he earned 561 yards and zero touchdowns. As such, it appears he is due for zero touchdowns through two seasons in the NFL.

Douglas has an ADP of about 191 overall and 72 with receivers, per Fantasy Pros. This is across all scoring systems.

In most situations, Douglas is not a good pick in fantasy football this year. If managers are desperate for a shot in the dark, they can spend one of their last picks of the draft on him. However, at that point, Douglas and many other receivers will be as effective of a choice.

If one wants to take a shot at Douglas, wait until at least every starter is filled and most of your bench is full. You should even have a kicker selected before choosing Douglas.

Of course, at the time of writing, Douglas has not been given a final spot on the depth chart. If he somehow jumps to becoming the team's top receiver, it would be worth adding him as a borderline flex starting option. However, outside of that scenario, tread carefully with Douglas.
