Derek Carr trade rumors: Raiders grant QB permission to speak with teams

Derek Carr and the Las Vegas Raiders may be one step closer to finalizing a trade that will send him to a new team this upcoming season.

On Friday evening, ESPN's Adam Schefter reported that the Raiders are finally giving Carr permission to speak with teams interested in acquiring him, much like the Deshaun Watson-Texans situation last offseason.

Raiders already have granted QB Derek Carr permission to speak with other teams interested in trading for him that have also agreed to compensation with Las Vegas, per sources.

It's the same arrangement the Texans had with quarterback Deshaun Watson last off-season.

Thus far, many teams have shown interest in acquiring Carr. The New York Jets, New Orleans Saints and others are interested, per reports.

Carr's buzz and trade interest may increase with the news of Tom Brady retiring.

Despite the news that Schefter broke, Carr liked a tweet from a reporter saying his agent still can't speak with teams.

Derek Carr will be entering his 10th NFL season with more motivation than ever. Upon hearing the news that the Raiders would be moving on from him, he sent a farewell message to the Raiders and showed that he still has the competitive nature in him.

"That fire burning inside of me to win a championship still rages," Carr posted. "A fire no man can extinguish; only God. So I look forward to a new city and a new team who, no matter the circumstance, will get everything I have. Winning a championship is what I will continue to work towards.”
