DeVante Parker Replacements: 5 best WRs Eagles should target ft. Hunter Renfrow
The Philadelphia Eagles faced an unexpected loss on Monday, with the team losing wide receiver DeVante Parker to retirement.
The former Miami Dolphins and New England Patriots player was expected to receive WR3 duties, but now the Eagles have to find another player to start alongside A.J. Brown and DeVonta Smith.
Here's a look at some of the possible replacements for DeVante Parker that the Eagles may consider.
5 wide receivers the Eagles could target to replace DeVante Parker
#1. Hunter Renfrow
The former Las Vegas Raiders wide receiver wasn't supposed to be a free agent at this point, but things get weird sometimes. Renfrow could perfectly slot as WR3 in this team and not demand as many targets as he did in Las Vegas, which is sort of what Parker was going to do.
#2. Russell Gage
Gage is a fantastic example of a WR3: when he was in Atlanta, he was asked to do more and he wasn't a great weapon, but that doesn't mean that he isn't useful, especially as a reliable weapon coming out of the slot. Not many better options remain on the market.
#3. Mecole Hardman
Speed! You can't deny how athletic both A.J. Brown and DeVonta Smith are, but they lack the vertical threat that Hardman poses – as he would add something that Philadelphia lacks and give more space to players such as other wide receivers and tight end Dallas Goedert.
#4. Jamal Agnew
It's been a long time since Agnew has been useful as a receiver, but while he could provide some depth, he's even more useful as a returner, something that Philadelphia has been looking for a long time. A complement to both Smith and Brown.
#5. Sterling Shepard
Shepard would easily be a starter in this team in his best days, but his time as an above-average receiver is done. However, he would still be useful in the Eagles as a slot receiver who could probably earn his 40-50 targets per season, even if he's not in his prime anymore.
