Should the Commanders have waited to trade for Deshaun Watson instead of Carson Wentz?

Now that Deshaun Watson has been cleared to play football again, the big question is, where will he go?

Obviously, Deshaun Watson won't be staying with the Houston Texans, and that relationship is over and was over even before the sexual harassment allegations came out.

This is why Deshaun Watson, from the beginning, welcomed a police investigation: He felt he knew that the truth would come out. And today, a grand jury did not charge him on any of the criminal complaints.

One place DeShaun Watson could have had a fresh start was with the Washington Commanders. The Commanders were looking for a starting quarterback until they made a trade to Indianapolis for Carson Wentz.

But should the Commanders have waited on Deshaun Watson? Watson is obviously the best quarterback out of the two and would have made more sense to get him than Wentz.

The problem was, no one knew what was going on with his case. Watson had several charges of sexual harassment against him that stuck to him like glue, and not a single NFL team was willing to take a chance on him at the time.

The Miami Dolphins and Philadelphia Eagles were the main teams interested in Watson, especially the Dolphins who many thought were going to trade their second-year quarterback Tua Tagovailo for him, but again the allegations hung over Watson's head.

The Commanders couldn't wait to see the fallout from this situation and had to make a move before another team did. We will see if it was the right decision.

What teams are in the market for Deshaun Watson?

Deshaun Watson's name has been cleared, so he has a new lease on life, the question is, what teams are interested in him?

Well, let's start with the obvious, the Tampa Bay Buccaneers. The Bucs would be a great landing spot for Watson. They need someone to replace Tom Brady, but Brady has hinted at a comeback, which may be why they won't go after him.

Do the Bucs dare trade Brady's rights to the Texans, along with a few draft choices, to get Watson? He may be worth it.

Another team is the Colts. They definitely need a starter since Wentz is gone to Washington. They have a lot of hot, young talent on this team, and Watson could fit right into what they are doing.

Watson landing with the Colts could automatically make them favorites in their division.

But the perfect landing spot might be the Carolina Panthers. Although the Panthers have Cam Newton, Watson is basically a younger version of the former league MVP. He can run; he can pass, and like the Colts, he could easily make this team a contender in the NFC South.

The Pittsburgh Steelers may also be in the mix, but are they willing to give up a lot for him? Oh, and let's not forget the Seattle Seahawks, too, who just made a major trade also.

The situation should be a win-win for not only Watson, but the Texans, too.
